John "Dan" Clegg, age 72 ,of Smyrna died April 24, 2012.

Preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Lucille Clegg. Survived by his wife of 51 years, Justine Clegg; son, Chris (Kathryn) Clegg; daughter, Dana Clegg; grandson, Daniel Clegg; brother, James "Jim" (Sharon) Clegg.

Funeral service to be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday April 27, 2012 in Woodlawn's Dignity Hall with Bro. Cliett Goodpasture officiating. Entombment to follow in Woodlawn Cross Mausoleum. Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 12 noon until 8 p.m. and 1 hour prior to the service on Friday.


Marian Wynette Argo Haley, 88 of Halls, TN died Tuesday in the Grace Healthcare Nursing Home, Memphis, TN.

Born in Ridgley, TN, she was the daughter of the late Paul and the late Shelly (Rice) Argo.

She was an elementary school teacher during World War II. She was also a member of the Halls First United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Haley was of Cherokee decent.

Survived by three sons: Tony (Robin) McClure of Townsend, TN, Steven (Vicki) Haley of Memphis, TN, Mac (Karen) Haley of Dayton, TN.

Mrs. Haley was preceded in death by her Husband, The Late Charley Haley, and a brother, Tom Frank Argo.

Friends may call Wednesday from 5-8 at Halls Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St., Halls, TN.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Halls Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St., Halls.

Interment will be Thursday in Bellevernon Cemetery, Friendship.


Willis Eugene Richards, 68, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Jackson Regional Hospital.

He was retired from the maintenance department for Holiday Inn and a member of Independent Free Holiness Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Independent Free Holiness Church with the Rev. Calvin Smith officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Thursday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his two daughters, Victoria Klutts and husband, Ronnie, and Natasha Middlebrook, all of Dyersburg; a sister, Patricia Sollis and husband, Jerry, of Dyersburg; three brothers, Bobby Richards, Jerry Wayne Richards and Marty Richards and wife, Kristy, all of Dyersburg; five grandchildren, Travis Klutts, Ashley Klutts, Breanna Vaughn, Nikki Nelson and Demetrice McCrite; and a great-grandson, Blake Roberts.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Ables Richards; and his parents, Marvin and Lois Stanfield Richards.

Pallbearers will be Wesley Bounds, Travis Klutts, Larry Bizzle, Lloyd Smith, Charles Staggs and Lannie Vestal.

James Richard Steele, 74, of Tiptonville, formerly of Halls, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at Reelfoot Manor Nursing Center.

He was born on March 15, 1938 in Blytheville, AR to Henry Richard Steele and Mary Edna Newberry.

He was a retired farmer.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Burial will take place next to his wife in Kennett, MO.

Survivors include his two sisters, Ethel Adams of Woodlawn, TN and Dora Smith of Clarksville, TN; and a brother, Walter Steele of Halls, TN.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Ann Steele; his parents; his maternal grandparents, Charley Waldo Newbery and Maggie Bell "Harlo" Newberry; his paternal grandparents, John Steele and Annie "Stein" Steel; and a sister, Bethel Williams.
