He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Garrison, her husband Dr. Terry Likes, and their daughter Katie of Bowling Green, KY and a son, Jimmie Garrison and his two daughters Megan and Maddie of Owensboro, KY; One brother, John Garrison and three sisters, Sandy Garrison and Pat Munaco, all of Cuba, MO; and Gail McWilliams of Fayetteville, AR; 14 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and great nephews.
Garrison is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Nancy Garrison, of Owensboro, KY (formerly Finley, TN); two brothers, Bobby Joe and Larry Glenn Garrison of St. Louis, MO (formerly Mason Hall, TN); and one sister, Rose Simpson of Finley, TN.
Wes Garrison was a dynamic and charismatic person, respected and loved by many and liked by everyone who met him and his infectious smile. He never met a stranger, loved a good joke and possessed a quick wit. He was a supportive father, loving grandfather, good brother and great friend. A natural leader and businessman, Garrison knew how to motivate people and how to bring out their best qualities. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to someone and mentored many people throughout his life. He loved life in the outdoors boating, fishing, gardening, hunting, and golfing. Garrison loved women and the water, was on the water every chance he could get and was very well known around the dam boils on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. Garrison was known in Utica for having an open garage door policy. If the garage door was open, you could stop in for a visit and wisdom. His towering absence leaves a gaping hole in the lives of his family and friends.
Garrison's career began in manufacturing with Chase Bag of St. Louis, MO. He joined Advanced Drainage Systems in 1969 and moved into management until his 2007 retirement. While with A.D.S., Garrison won more company awards than any other employee. He managed 9 plants as Regional Manager and was manager of plants during his working career in Brownsville, TN, Harvard, IL, Versailles, KY and Livermore, KY. On April 4, 2012, in recognition of Garrison's spirit and life-long contributions to A.D.S, two manufacturing scholarships will be given under the Honorary Wes Garrison A.D.S Livermore Manufacturing Scholarship Program to two McLean County Kentucky High School seniors each year for the next 5 years. The second award bestowed on Garrison is The Wes Garrison Customer Service Excellence Award that commemorates his 38 years of dedication. This is an annual award given to one of the 53 domestic plants within the A.D.S. network. Garrison was also a member of the coveted A.D.S. Ring Club.
Garrison was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church beginning in 2002. Prior to that he was a member and Deacon of Buck Creek Baptist Church.
No formal service is planned. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Garrison's name to Hospice of Western Kentucky. Messages to the family may be left at www.davisfuneralhome.com. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at a later date.
