Dyer-Lake CASA Program Director Wendy Smith poses with a sign seen throughout the community at businesses who sponsor the program dedicated to recruiting and training community volunteers to represent abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system. The organization's upcoming fundraiser, Cupcakes for CASA, will return to the King Mansion on Friday, May 11. The event will present an evening of cupcakes, chocolate and champagne - and the opportunity to help a child in need - from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Cupcakes, chocolate and champagne will be served in the King Mansion from 5:30-7:30 p.m., on Friday, May 11.

An event that not only provides decadent desserts in an elegant setting, Cupcakes for CASA also offers a chance for area residents to aid abused and neglected children.

Tickets, currently available for $20, may be purchased at First Citizens National Bank's Green Village branch, First State Bank's Highway 51 Bypass branch, Magnolia Marketplace, or by calling (731) 334-0192.

Those interested in becoming a sponsor may contact Dyer-Lake CASA at (731) 334-0192. Business and individual sponsorships are also available to meet a variety of budgets.

Dyer-Lake CASA is a program dedicated to recruiting and training community volunteers to represent abused and neglected children in the juvenile court system. An official part of the judicial proceedings, CASA volunteers are appointed by a juvenile judge to work alongside attorneys and social workers to speak for the best interests of an abused or neglected child. By handling only one or two cases at a time, a CASA volunteer has time to thoroughly explore the history and circumstances of each assigned case.
