Mrs. Dorothy Cravens, 86, of Dyersburg, TN died Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home in Joliet, Illinois. She was a homemaker.

Services will be at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2012 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home in Dyersburg with Bro. Mac Daniels officiating. Interment will follow in New Haven Cemetery in Ridgely. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors on Friday May 4, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include one daughter, Pamela Cravens of Dyersburg; two sons, Nick Cravens of Wilmington, Illinois and Tommy Cravens of Dyersburg; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn "Billy" Cravens and her parents John and Iler Channell Stewart.

Pallbearers will be Nickey D. Cravens Sr., Nickey D. Cravens Jr., Nickey D. Cravens III, Tyler P. Cravens, Glenn Morton, and Donald Dotson.

David Lee Doerr, 67, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at Methodist Hospital in Germantown.

He was a retired insurance agent for American General Life & Accident Insurance Company, member of Dyersburg First Church and he was a Mason.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Pastor Stephen Stoner officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Doerr of Dyersburg; two daughters, Teresa Webb and husband, Frankie, of Newbern and Debbie Sizemore and husband, Jackie, of Dyersburg; his mother, Jane Doerr of Dyersburg; a brother, Randy Doerr of Georgia; seven grandchildren, Misty Pearson and husband, Heath, Jimmy Whitlow and wife, Amy, Candace Sizemore, Courtney Sizemore, Alex Webb, Calin Sizemore and Craig Sizemore; and four great-grandchildren, Destanie Whitlow, Anna Sizemore, Elizabeth Marlow and Trey Dean.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.N. Doerr; and a brother, Bobby Doerr.

Pallbearers will be Ken Gow, Mike Jackson, Roy Boone, Doyle Willard, Joe Paschal and Kenny Eakin. Honorary pallbearers will be Harry P. Smith, Larry "Lonzo" Phillips, John Newsom and Doug French.

Judy Ann Mullins, age 63, went peacefully, while surrounded by her family, to be with the Lord after her courageous battle with cancer on May 2, 2012.

She was a strong Christian lady who always put her family first. Judy was a dedicated, loving wife, mother and grandmother, who was generous with her life and love for others and enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.

She was a retired teller for Dyersburg Credit Union and member of Westside Baptist Church, where she served as the church secretary and treasurer and taught children's church.

A celebration of her life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. James Combs and Bro. Mike Deal officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Mullins; two sons, Thomas Mullins and wife, Kim, and Tim Mullins and wife, Kim,; a daughter, Kelly Goad; three grandchildren, Hailey Mullins, Carleigh Goad and Luke Mullins; a brother, Bill Augdon; and two sisters, Jean Langston and Pat Haley; all of Dyersburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Mirtie Augdon; and a sister, Lora Jean Winchester.

Pallbearers will be Vincent Younger, Larry Jones, Jimmy Pugh, Jeremiah Ward, Donnie Crone and William Mathina.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Dyersburg/Dyer County Cancer Fund.

Charlie James Rimel, 75, of Dexter, Mo. died Thursday, May 3, 2012, at his residence.

Mr. Rimel, the son of the late Jacob L. and Lucille (McDowell) Rimel was born March 6, 1939, in Poplar Bluff, Mo.

Mr. Rimel was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dexter, Mo. and a retired lineman for Ameren. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Rimel was active in the United Methodist Men, past president of the Dexter Lions Club and University of Missouri Agricultural Extension Council.

On Dec. 19, 1965, he married Judith Kay Evans, in Dexter, Mo. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, Chris Rimel and his wife, Anna Jane, of Acworth, Ga.; and Kevin Rimel of Anna, Ill.; and two grandchildren, Mae Esther Rimel and Gabriel William Rimel.

Other survivors include sisters, Minnie Rimel Davis of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Betty Rimel Harris and husband Ed, of Ruston, La.; and two brothers, Bob Rimel and wife Linda, of Poplar Bluff and John Rimel, of Wilmer, Ala.; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, May 4, at the First United Methodist Church in Dexter with funeral services at the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 5. Interment will be 10 a.m. Monday, May 7, at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First United Methodist Church of Dexter.


Albert Allen Woods, 82, of Dyersburg died Monday, April 30, 2012 at his residence. He was a member of Fowlkes Baptist Church.

A Memorial service will be held Sunday, May 6 at 2:00 p.m. at Fowlkes Baptist Church with Reverend Don Williams officiating.

He is preceded in death by his wife Anita Jo Pinckley Woods of Dyersburg, his father, L.M. Woods and mother, Myrtle Woods of Dyersburg, two brothers, James Woods and Ralph Woods both of Memphis, one sister, Jane Palmer of Memphis and one granddaughter, Abbe Lynn Harris of Dyersburg.

He is survived by two sisters, Katherine Porch and Anna Frances Kidd, both of Memphis, his daughter, Susan Harris, of Dyersburg, one granddaughter, Dana Jo Kees of Ripley and one great-grandson, Braden Wade Vaughn of Ripley.

No graveside services will be held, so any sprays of flowers are not required.


Mildred L. Parker Brandon, 89, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Thomas Allen Powers, 69, of Dyersburg, died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
