Mildred L. Parker Brandon, 89, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.

She was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Dyer County Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Danny Tackett and the Rev. Jeremy Ballinger officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include her two daughters, Joann Langley and husband, Marshall, of Ripley and Wanda Criswell of Dyersburg; two sons, Jim Parker of Centennial, CO and Douglas Parker and wife, Becky, of Dyersburg; three step-daughters, Mae Brandon Tackett and husband, Danny, of Portage, IN, Elizabeth Brandon Johnson and Martha Brandon Sanford, both of Dyersburg; two step-sons, Ernest N. Brandon and wife, Edith, of Johnston City, IL and John D. Brandon, Jr. and wife, Frances, of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren, Jeff M. Parker and Stephanie Parker, both of Centennial, CO, Toni D. Parker Broglin and Dana Criswell Fulcher, both of Dyersburg, Carre Criswell of Newbern, Mark A. Langley, Sr. of St. Roberts, MO, Cindy Langley Olds and Sherry Langley McClellan, both of Ripley; and many great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Cecil Norris Parker and John O. Brandon, Sr.; her parents, Elmer and Bertha Martin Fee; a son-in-law, Buford Criswell; and three half-brothers.

Pallbearers will be Jeff M. Parker, Sammy Broglin, Johnny Fulcher, Jeff Gordon, Mark A. Langley, Sr., Mark A. Langley, Jr. and Jeremy Ward.

Dewayne Garner, 49, of Ridgely, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.

He was a farmer, member of Abundant Life Fellowship Church and a member of Dyer County Soil Conservation.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Ridgely Chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. David Gray officiating. Burial was in New Haven Cemetery.

The family received visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Vanessa S. Garner of Ridgely; a daughter, Madison Grace Garner of Ridgely; and a sister, Vicki Wyrick of Munford.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Joyce Duke Garner.

Pallbearers were Kevin Farrow, Jerome Shumate, Lanny Long, Roger Long, Butch Garner and Thomas Watts. Honorary pallbearers were Robert T. Shull, Steve North, Pete Welch, Lloyd Garner, Kent Patterson, Trent Patterson, O.V. Fowler, Tim Taylor, Terry Jamison, Wallace Dudley and Richard Clancy, Sr.

Olan Ray Sawyer, 73, of Dyersburg, died Thursday, May 3, 2012 at his residence.

He was the retired owner-operator of Sawyer Union 76, which was located at the corner of Troy and Gordon, attended Three Oaks Baptist Church, was involved in many community affairs, such as, The American Cancer Society, The Developmental Skills Center of Dyer County, a former construction worker for Pioneer Construction Company, former farmer, former convenience store owner and former manager for All-In-One Storage.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. John Stacy officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Sawyer of Dyersburg; a daughter, Cindy Sawyer Ware of Dyersburg; a son, Danny Ray Sawyer and companion, Alecia Gibbons, of Dyersburg; a step-son, Aaron Allen Shelby and wife, Kristy, of Oceanside, CA; six sisters, Sue Fair of Dyersburg, Catherine Mashburn of Ripley, Margaret Willis and husband, Gene, and Katie Garrett and husband, Dan, all of Newbern, Peggy Dilbeck and Etta Boswell, both of Indiana; a brother, Kenneth Sawyer and wife, Joan, of Dyersburg; eleven grandchildren, Lindsey Ford, Whitney Hill, McKenzie Ware, Brock Shelby, Ada Shelby, Destiny Shelby, Paige Shelby, Hope Shelby, Roman Shelby, Georgia Shelby and Courtney Gibbons; two great-grandchildren, Hudson Ford and Parker Daniels; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mary Canada Sawyer; and a brother, David "Potts" Sawyer.

Pallbearers will be Larry Waller, Billy Hall, Marvin Robertson, Ric Goodall, Rick Morrow and Tim McCraw.

Robert J. (Bob) Welch, age 80, of Lenoir, NC, passed away Thursday, May 3, at Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care in Lenoir. He was born February 20, 1932 in Fowlkes, Tennessee to the late Harvey L. and Alice Prather Welch. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Patricia Welch; and two brothers, Kenneth Welch and Ronnie Welch.

A veteran of the Korean War, Mr. Welch held the rank of Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force, serving as a cryptologist in the Marshall Islands and later at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Following his military service, he studied civil engineering at the University of Florida at Gainesville. At his retirement, he was a Stormwater Engineer for the City of Tampa.

A devoted husband and father, Bob loved fishing, genealogy, classical music and long drives through the Blue Ridge Mountains. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lenoir.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Anne Hyatt Welch; one son, Jeffrey C. Welch and daughter-in-law, Shelli Welch of Lenoir; one sister, Loretta Williams of Fowlkes, TN; one brother-in-law, Duke Doolittle of Foley, Alabama; and many nieces and nephews in Tennessee, Florida, Alabama and Idaho.

A celebration of his life will be held in the Christian Life Center of First United Methodist Church on Monday, May 7, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. with the Rev. Jamie Armstrong officiating.

Interment with military honors will be held at a future date at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.

William Jerry "Burgie" Permenter, 67, of Dyersburg, died Friday, May 4, 2012 at his residence.
