Virginia Lowrance Carpenter, 87, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in Dyersburg, Tennessee.

Born Tuesday, December 16, 1924 in Gibson County, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Virgil Robert Lowrance and the late Evelyn Walker Lowrance.

She was a homemaker, a lady of great faith and member of Center United Methodist Church where she had served on many committees.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carpenter will be 10:00 AM. Wednesday, May 16, 2012, in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Dan Tilly and Mr. Larry Carpenter. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 15, 2012 from 5:30 PM-8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carpenter is survived by her husband of 66 years, Ronald Carpenter of Newbern, Tennessee; a son, Danny Carpenter and his wife Nika of Newbern, Tennessee; a daughter in-law, Marsha Dorgan-Carpenter of Murray, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Carrie Butler and her husband Randy of Newbern, Tennessee; Collin Carpenter and his wife Elizabeth of Newbern, Tennessee; Michelle Coulston and her husband Ben of Paris, Tennessee and Megan Dorgan-Carpenter of Clarksville, Tennessee and seven great-grandchildren, Nikalas Butler, Aaron Ashlee Carpenter, Jaxon Butler, Peyton Carpenter, Charlotte Coulston, Brooklyn Butler and James Coulston.

She was preceded in death by a son, Dr. Mickey R. Carpenter ; a grandson Rusty Carpenter and a brother, Rev. Robert Harrell Lowrance.

Pallbearers will be Collin Carpenter, Randy Butler, Ben Coulston, Ronnie Weatherly, Larry Carpenter and Bobby Lowrance.

John Ezell Kenney Jr., 67, of Stigler, Okla., died Monday, May 14, 2012.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by Dyersburg Funeral Home.


Bobby J. Thompson, 70, of Newbern, died Monday at his residence.
