Freda Ann O'Neal Halliburton, 58, of Dyersburg died Sunday, June 10, 2012 at her residence. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. at Salter's Chapel A.M.E. with Rev. George Turks officiating. Burial will be in the M.C.C.O. Cemetery in Newbern.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church.

Survivors include three daughters, Ericka O'Neal, April O'Neal and Flora Fowlkes, all of Dyersburg; two sons, Vincent O'Neal of Colonial Heights, Va. and Alphonso Halliburton of Dyersburg; four sisters, Vesta (Linnie) Ware of Mounds, Ill., Esther (Henry) Coleman of Rome, NY; Joan Webb, Gary, Ind. and Rita McCullough, Wavlregan, Ill.; two brothers, Odell Smith of Benton Harbor, Mich., Fredrick Smith of Zion, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Halliburton.

Pallbearers will be Sammie Gauldin, Courtney William, Rico Dear, Travis Ferguson, Kenyan Woods, Kevin Brown, Semaj Lee, Niko Jones.

Myrtle B. Leitherland went home to be with the Lord June 19, 2012. She was the widow of the late Jesse, C. Leitherland, Ret. Gunnery Sgt. USMC.

She is survived by three daughters, Joan Leitherland Watson (Daniel), companion and caregiver for the past 11 years of Dyersburg, Sarah James (Bill) of Dyersburg and Sharon Chapman of Caruthersville, Mo.

She is also survived by six grandchildren, Daniel Lloyd Watson II (Shelly), Jesse B. Henry (John Paul) both of Newbern, Trinity Leitherland Watson Campbell (Kenneth) of Dyersburg, Dana Jackson of Dyersburg and Hayley Day of Missouri. Great-grandchildren are Dannie Marie Watson of Dyersburg, Daniel L. Watson III of Newbern, Ryne Jackson and Taylor Tibbs of Dyersburg. She is also survived by one great-great-grandson Van Abel Jackson.

One sister survives her, Helen Shipley of Dyersburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Leitherland; daughter Joy Renee Leitherland; granddaughter Mickey Joy Watson; great granddaughter Cheyenne Elizabeth Joanie Watson of Dyersburg; sisters, Eliza Spry of Savannah, Minnie Bishop and Opal Haynes of Dyersburg; brothers, George "John" Anderson and Logan Anderson; her sons-in-law Daniel L. Watson and Floyd Reasons; granddaughter-in-law Jennifer Ann Watson, and her beloved mother Sarah Bell Doss and father Ben Anderson both of Dyersburg.

She worked proudly as the first official traffic guard for the Dyersburg Police Department, she enjoyed working at the Country Club and was one of the original employees of McDonalds in Dyersburg. She loved meeting new people and making new friends. She was a very outgoing woman who endured many hardships and good times.

Funeral services for Mrs. Leitherland will be 10:00 AM Friday, June 22, 2012 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Rev. Clayton Mahan. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 PM-8:00 at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be John Paul Henry, Daniel Watson, II, Kenneth Campbell, Rickey Doss, Ryne Jackson and Dakota Owsley. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill James and Trinity Campbell.


Edward Lewis Luckett, 75, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at his residence.

He was retired from Murray Guard, member of Southside Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and taught the Men's Adult Sunday School Class, retired Master Sergeant of the U.S. Army, where he served for 23 years and he was a Vietnam Veteran.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Loren Stephens and the Rev. Ronnie Wylie officiating. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery in Nutbush, TN.

The family will receive visitors from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Clyde Luckett of Dyersburg; three daughters, Monica Lindquist and husband, Craig, of Deer Creek, MN, Christina Ladd of Sparta, WI and Alisha Coker of Newbern; two sons, Edward J. Luckett and wife, Sandra, of Springhill, LA and Anthony L. Luckett of Millington; three brothers, Don Luckett and George Wallace Luckett and wife, Joyce, all of Dyersburg and Jerry Lynn Luckett and wife, Dottie, of Millington; ten grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn Langley Luckett; his parents, Robert and Nannie Daniels Luckett; two sisters, Doris Vogt and Joyce Luckett; three brothers, Andrew Luckett, Robert Bruce Luckett, Jr. and Richard Luckett; and a granddaughter, Tonya Luckett.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Nelson, Trey Ladd, Nick Coker, Chad Luckett, Ricky Moore and Terry Akins, Jr.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Dyer County Community Cancer Fund.


Geraldine "Peggy" Park, of Friendship, Tn died on July 19, 2012. She was 94 years old. She graduated from Hamlet Robinson High School where she excelled as a basketball player setting records for most points scored in a game. She married Harry Park on Christmas day and was his loving wife for 69 years. As an accomplished pianist she served as Elizabeth United Methodist church's pianist and organist for many years. Known to many as "Miss Peg" she was ever the southern hostess. She delighted in preparing meals and entertaining family and friends. She was a member and served as president of the Friendship Book Club. Although she tragically lost her only daughter in 1968, she was never-ending in her unconditional support and encouragement of married couples. One of her most precious involvements was serving as a Sunday School teacher for young adults at her church. She loved them all as if they were her own children. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harry and her daughter Carolyn Stallcup. Survivors include her son in law, Bobby Stallcup and wife Betty, Granddaughters Renee Fronabarger and husband, Don, of Russellville, Arkansas, and Tina Osborn and husband, Dennis, of Southaven, Mississippi, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at the Friendship Funeral Home on June 21 from 5-8 P.M. with services at 10:30 A.M. on June 22nd.


Stacey Pierce, 45, of Dyersburg, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Jackson Regional Hospital.

Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday June 22, 2012 in the chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Kathy Pierce and Teresa Schultz officiating. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, June 21, 2012 from 5 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Survivors include his Parents Wilburn and Brenda Sue Pierce of Dyersburg and Mrs. Deborah Luke of Bartlesville, Ok.; and two sisters, Kathy Pierce of Newbern and Teresa Schultz and husband Bo of Bartlesville, Ok.; two nieces, Carrie Nicole Stone and Trinity Ann Stone; and two nephews, Cody Scott Blalock and Kaylip Lee Franks.

Pallbearers will be William Pierce, Jeff Pierce, Billy Hicks, Mike Ramey, David Moss, Dale Snow, and Ryan Capps.

Lennie Mae Robertson, 100, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at The Highlands. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m.-10:45 a.m. today at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church, 208 St. George Ave. Dyersburg, TN.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church in Dyersburg with the Rev. W.L. McCadney officiating. Burial will be in M.C.C.O. Cemetery in Newbern.

The widow of Otis Robertson, survivors include two sons, Larry Robertson and Craig Robertson, both of Rockford, Ill.; cousins, Ethel Mae Reed of Dyersburg, Bobby Reed of Memphis, Terry Reed of Lansing, Mich.; nieces, Ollie B. McLin, Willie Mae McLin, both Dyersburg; and two nephews, Joe Lewis McLin and Robert McLin, both Dyersburg.
