Jesse Clay (J.C.) Kirk Jr., 73, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.
He was a retired employee of Truckline Gas Company and Tennessee National Guard Unit in Dyersburg. He was a member of the New Womack Temple CME Church, NAACP and the first black integrated cop, a 33rd Degree Mason.
Services will be at 12 p.m. Saturday at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Session officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dyersburg. Thompson's Mortuary in Ripley is in charge of arrangements.
The family will receive visitors at from 6-8 p.m. Friday at New Womack Temple CME Church.
Survivors include four sons, Jeffrey Kirk of Clinton, Md., Dwayne McKinney of Bowling Green, Ky., Bobby Kirk (Glenda) and Marvin Kirk, of Dyersburg; two daughters, Gwen Logan of Dallas, Texas and Bridgette Kirk of Dyersburg; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Mae Kirk; a sister, Alma Johnson; a brother, Samuel Fowlkes.
