Man calls police after sex deal falls through

Friday, July 13, 2012

A Dyersburg man was cited for patronizing a prostitute after he called police to report a woman had stolen his $40 after he paid her for sex.

The 62-year-old man reportedly called police on Thursday, July 5, after he paid a 31-year-old female for sex at the corner of Bowen Lane and Hornbrook Street and she took off with his $40. He told police he either wanted his $40 back or sexual gratification. Officers spoke with the female and she told them she took the money and told the man she could get crack cocaine with it. She allegedly gave the money to another unknown man who ran off.

The woman was given a misdemeanor citation for prostitution and the man was issued a misdemeanor citation for patronizing a prostitute.

Both parties are scheduled to appear in Dyersburg City Court on July 20 at 9 a.m.

Why wasn't his name printed? A misdemeanor citation should be public record. Journalism 101: Who, what where, when and why.
