Gary Lynn "Smurf" "Skeeter" Sykes, 57, of Dyersburg, died Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at his residence.
He was a factory employee with Anderson-Hickey, member of Evansville Free Holiness Church and an avid fisherman.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Mac Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 4:30-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Sykes of Dyersburg; three daughters, Veronica Edwards and husband, Allen, of Milan, Memory Barnhill and Krystal Sykes, both of Atoka; a stepdaughter, Emily Wilbanks and husband, David, of Dyersburg; his mother, Virginia Pauline Sykes of Dyersburg; three sisters, Mary Virginia Walker and husband, Billy, of Mayfield, KY, Charlene Hampton of California and Sonda Faye Bishop and husband, Jamie, of Dyersburg; seven brothers, Charlie "Sonny" Sykes and wife, Patsy, and Eugene Sykes and wife, Katherine, all of RoEllen, Harold Gene Clark of Tigrett, Larry Dan Hays and wife, Judy, of Dyersburg and Allen Hays and wife, Ruth, "DID" Hays and wife, Tina, and James "Wormy" Sykes, all of Lenox; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar David Sykes; and two brothers, George Larry Sykes and David Lee Sykes.
Pallbearers will be David Glascoff, Paul Glascoff, Darren Glascoff, James Sykes, Mike Lepping, Alvie Anderson, Tyler Wilbanks and Mike Cole.
