Billie Brown, age 94, of Dyersburg, Tennessee, passed away on August 14, 2012, at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Home. Graveside services for Mr. Brown will be conducted on Wednesday, August 15, at 2:00 p.m. in the Bells Chapel Cemetery with interment to follow. Rev. Ronnie Turner will officiate.

Mr. Brown was born February 16, 1918, in Gibson County; the son of the late Joe S. and Eula Dodd Brown. He was a factory worker at Brown Maris Metal Company in Michigan. He served his country with the US Army during World War II.

Mr. Brown is survived by one brother, James Brown and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his spouse, Helen Brown.

Ms. Mattie Mae Brown age 92 of Dyersburg, TN died August 11, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in Dyersburg, TN. Cosmopolitan Funeral Services is in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held Friday, August 17, 2012 11:00 a.m.-12:45 p.m. at A Better Way Outreach Ministries Church in Dyersburg, TN. Funeral Services will began at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Robert L. Taylor Jr. officiating. Burial will be held in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dyersburg. Survivors include daughters, Judy Brown Lovins, Linda Brown Jones of Dyersburg, TN; Son, Jerry Brown, Miami, Florida, Brother, Guy Lee Muskgrave, Tx; 8 Grandchildren, 24 Great-Grandchildren, 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. Belma D. Stafford, 89, of Dyersburg, died Monday, August 13, 2012 at The Bridge at Ridgely.

She was a homemaker and a member of Second Baptist Church.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Dr. Gene Stafford and the Rev. Harvel Baker officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will received visitors from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors include her daughter, Nancy Blasingame of Dyersburg; three sons, Millard Allen Stafford and wife, Pam, of Finley, Dennis Stafford and wife, Cynthia, of Sikeston, MO and Dr. Larry Gene Stafford and wife, Mitzie, of Medon; fifteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Millard Stafford; a daughter, Mary Frances Dailey; two sons, Don Stafford and Lynn Stafford; her parents, Gilbert and Virdie Sanders Stanfill; and two sisters.

Pallbearers will be grandsons; Brian Green, James Stafford, Jerod Stafford, Terry Newman, Bobby Williams and Robbie Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Warren, Earl Lumley, Bud Wallace and Billy Martindale.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Alzheimer's Foundation or St. Jude Research Hospital.


Roy Maxwell Thompson, Age 76, went to be with the Lord and his daughter, Dawn Marie Thompson, on Wednesday, August 8, with his loving wife of 27 years, Merle Becker Thompson, and sister, Martha Ray Letts, by his side.

Roy was the loving father and family man to Derry Max Thompson and wife, Cathy, Dean Michael Thompson and wife, Deidre, Stephanie McCarten and husband, Dr. Paul McCarten and Cary Becker and wife, Susan, 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Roy is also survived by Irma Sue Hipp Thompson and Roger, Jimmy and Bobby Hendren.

Roy was a 1953 graduate of Trimble High School, attending the University of Tennessee at Martin for 1 year before joining the Army for 3 years. Roy graduated from the University Of Tennessee College Of Engineering in 1958 and was a member of the Alpha Pi Mu honorary Industrial Engineering Society. He loved watching U.T. sports, remaining an avid fan of his Alma mater. He worked for General Electric for 11 years. Roy was Plant Manager for Harnischfeger in Panama City, Florida and Beloit Manhattan in Columbus, Mississippi before retiring to Panama City where he enjoyed family and friends visiting him as often as they would come. Roy's boat called "Roy's Toy" was one of many ways he loved entertaining family and friends by taking them out in the Gulf. Roy was a devoted father and grandfather and a master host. He was a member of Woodlawn United Methodist Church.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Dyersburg, Tennessee on Saturday, August 18th at 1pm at the Post House Apartment Club House (next to Dyersburg Funeral Home). Parking is available behind the Club House.

Royce Gene Myers of Cool Springs community passed away Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be released later by Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
