Dorothy Fowler Hill, 90, of Memphis, formerly of Dyersburg died Monday, August 20, 2012 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of Great Oaks Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hill will be at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 22, 2012 graveside at Zion Cemetery at Elbridge conducted by Brother Tim Alsup.

The Hill family will receive visitors prior to the service from 12:30 -- 1:30 pm at the funeral home.

She is survived by 4 nieces and 3 nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Hill, 2 sisters Edith Anderson and Ollie B. Garrison, 1 brother Ezra Fowler and 1 niece.

Mrs. Hallie Jones Hines, 83 of Friendship, TN, died Monday in the Maple Ridge Assisted Living in Dyersburg. Born in Tomato, AR, she was the daughter of the late Joe and the late Mayme (Murry) Jones.

She was a Homemaker.

Survived by one daughter: Reta (David) Hines Spry of Friendship, TN.

Sister of one sister: Lela Stevens of Manchester, NJ.

Granddaughter, Rebecca (Jason) Revell of Dyersburg, TN; grandson, Mathew Call of Friendship, TN; great-granddaughter, Hallie Revell; great-grandson, John Walker Revell.

She was the widow of the Late Allen Hines, they were married for 42 years.

Friends may call Wednesday (8-22-12) from 12:00 p.m. until service at Halls Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St., Halls, TN.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday (8-22-12) at 2:00 pm at Halls Funeral Home, 109 N. Church St., Halls.

Interment will be Wednesday in Halls Cemetery, Halls.


George Holland, 74, of Bogota, died Sunday, August 19, 2012 at his residence.

He was a retired mechanic for Dyersburg Fabrics and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a Baptist.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Three Oaks Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Bill Phipps and Bro. Don Williams officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 9-11 a.m. Thursday at Three Oaks Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, April Steele and husband, Kenny, of Puryear; two sons, Tim Holland and wife, Judy, and Marty Holland and wife, Sara, all of Dyersburg; a sister, Dolly Gay of Dyersburg; a brother, Monroe Holland of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and six grandchildren, Cody Holland, Hunter Holland, Justin Richardson, Logan Holland, Lawson Holland and Amber Holland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Francis Glozier Holland; a brother, Tom Holland; and two sisters, Audra Riley and Francis Rushing.


Mr. James Roberson, 51, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, August 18, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center. Mr. Roberson had been employed at IHOP Restaurant in Memphis. He was a member at Dyersburg Christian Center Church in Dyersburg. Memorial services will be held Friday, August 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Dyersburg Christian Center Church located at 824 Finley St.; Bishop Wesley Arije Pastor; Elder Vivian Ward will be eulogizing. He leaves to cherish his memories 1 daughter: Diamond Zales Chambers-Roberson (Dyersburg); 1 son, Catlin Dylan Roberson (Tiptonville); 2 sisters, Elder Vivian Ward and Zelda Wardlow (Dyersburg); 3 brothers: Jerry Roberson Jr. and Fredrick Roberson (Memphis), Jeffrey Roberson (Nashville); 1 grandchild: Jeremiah Antonio Roberson (Tiptonville); Parents, Zella Mae and Jerry Roberson preceded him in death. H.H. Hudson Funeral Home in Dyersburg is in charge of arrangements.


Gladys Laverne McGuire Stephens passed away August 21, 2012 in Memphis, TN. She was born November 7, 1921. She grew up in the Dyersburg, TN area and was formerly a cosmetologist there. She retired from Baptist Hospital in Memphis as a nurse's aide. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William McGuire, 12 siblings, and granddaughter, Connie Denise Curtis. She leaves behind two daughters, Loretta Stephens Cameron of Hernando, MS and Sherry Stephens Bowie of Memphis; two granddaughters, Kasia Bowie and Ashley Cameron both of Memphis, and many nieces and nephews living in various parts of the United States. The funeral will be August 24, 2012 at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour before at Forest Hill Funeral Home on Whitten Avenue in Memphis.


Thomas Anderson, 78, of Lenox, died Monday, August 20, 2012 at The Med in Memphis.
