Lady Trojan goalkeeper Katie Windle sends a goal kick upfield against JCS.
The Dyersburg Lady Trojan soccer team did something they haven't ever done -- defeat the JCS Lady Eagles. On an excessively hot night in Jackson, the Lady Trojans would collect the lone goal of the match in the 25th minute off a corner kick from Rachel Clifft that fell to the feet of Mel Hurst which she promptly volleyed past the JCS goalkeeper. It was at this point that Dyersburg goalie Katie Windle put on her work boots and work gloves and well, went to ... work. Windle would deny the Lady Eagle attackers 15 times throughout the match and eventually kept the 1-0 clean sheet, giving the Lady Trojans a very impressive win against a quality Division 2 opponent.

The rest of the defending group of Amanda Sanchez, Olivia Jones, Sydney McNeill and Destiny Thompson with further support from Sadie Liljenquist and Taylor Sharp closed down the JCS attack and prevented many high-percentage shots on Windle. Liljenquist, Clifft along with Katherine Keller late in the match held the central mid possession and continued to provide some level of counterattacks with the wing and forward play of Hurst, Cassandra Solis, Marielle Eschavez and Maricela Leon.

"With history against us vs. JCS, this is, I guess, one for the ages," said coach Lisa Clifft. "Everyone worked very hard, under extreme conditions. I'm very proud of these Lady Trojans."

Dyersburg is now 4-0-1 on the season and hosts division rival Obion Central on Monday night at 5.
