Newbern's Assistant Police Chief Red Barnes poses for a photo at a Depot Days booth raising funds for his upcoming kidney transplant. Barnes, who has been on dialysis for six years, will travel to Birmingham, Ala. in October to receive a kidney from his son. Donations to help with expenses related to the trip and the surgery may be made at any Security Bank branch to the Red Barnes/Roy Pugh benefit account.
