"... and let us run with perseverance the race marked out before us." ~ Hebrews 12:1.

For over two decades, Dyer County residents and regional athletes have joined together to aid local children by participating the Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission's annual Mission March.

The event allows residents of all ages to stretch their legs and their athletic abilities, while providing the means for the Mission to stretch its programs further into the Dyer County community.

Residents who wish to compete for these trophies while helping to boost the ministries of the Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission may run, walk or jog their way through downtown Dyersburg on Saturday, Oct. 20. Registration is under way for the 22nd annual Mission March, which offers a 5K race, a one-mile youth race, The Dyersburg Mile and a two-mile walk. The event will kick off from the historic Courthouse Square, rain or shine. Those wishing to register or receive more information may visit www.dyersburgmission.com or register in person at the Mission office located at 213 West Cedar St. in downtown Dyersburg.
The 22nd annual Mission March will take place in historic downtown Dyersburg on Saturday, Oct. 20, with four events scheduled to take place, rain or shine. The 5K and two-mile walk will begin promptly at 9 a.m. at the starting line on the Courthouse Square. The one-mile youth race and the Dyersburg Mile for adults will begin at 9:40 a.m., with door prizes set for 10 a.m. and award presentations beginning at 10:20 a.m.

Pre-registered participants may pick up their packets between noon and 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at the Mission Chapel. Race Day registration and packet pick-up will take place between 7:30-8:45 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Registration is currently under way at www.dyersburgmission.com or by visiting the Mission office located at 213 West Cedar St. in downtown Dyersburg.

Corporate groups, churches, civic organizations and schools may also choose to compete for a traveling plaque. The plaque is presented to the team with the most participants, not the fastest participants. Team members may participate in the 5K, two-mile, one-mile or Dyersburg Mile -- or may choose to be a ghost participant.

The registration deadline for the team competition is Monday, Oct. 15.
