City to send corrected tax rolls next week

Saturday, October 6, 2012

The city of Dyersburg will be sending out corrected tax rolls late next week after an error was caught at the state level. According to City Treasurer Steve Anderson, when the state loaded the information onto the tax cards they incorrectly used 2011 information instead of 2012. Consequently, any property value changes from last year such as reappraisals were not reflected and made the information inaccurate.

The state is working on sending Dyersburg new tax cards, which the city expects to receive early next week. The new cards will then be mailed to residents with the following stamp:

The city is giving residents an additional four weeks to pay their taxes because of the error, pushing the original due date of Jan. 3, 2013 back to Jan. 31, 2013.

As a result of their error, the state is reimbursing the city $1,722.28 in postage. Residents that have further questions on their tax cards should contact City Hall at (731) 288-7600.
