A live burn, conducted by the Dyersburg Fire Department as a part of Lowe's Safety Saturday this weekend, will show local residents just how quickly a home fire can get out of control. Scheduled at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Oct. 13, the event demonstrates the difference in the timeline of a house fire in structures protected by a sprinkler system and those left unprotected. Lowe's Safety Saturday will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., this Saturday on the parking lot of the Dyersburg Lowe's store.
This Saturday, residents stopping into Lowe's Dyersburg location will find more than just inspiration for home-improvement projects.

The store will offer its annual Safety Saturday on Saturday, Oct. 13, with a wide variety of activities scheduled between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the store's parking lot.

Lowe's local store will partner with the Home Safety Council to distribute safety tip sheets and craft kits to families attending the event. In addition, local fire and law enforcement officials and other safety experts will be on hand to pass out badge stickers and activity books.

Community safety experts will also answer questions on home safety products and offer advice on keeping families safe from fires, burns and other home injuries.

One of the highlights of the day will be a live burn demonstration conducted by the Dyersburg Fire Department at 1 p.m.

Other events include:

* free blood pressure checks

* a Kids Clinic featuring fire trucks in the kit - starts between 10 and 10:30 a.m., supplies are limited

* a door prize giveaway of a CharBroil gas grill

* a live broadcast by WASL

Local agencies or organizations slated to attend include:

* U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services

* Tennessee National Guard

* Dyersburg Regional EMS

* Fire trucks from county volunteer departments

* The Dyersburg Fire Department

* medical helicopters

* law enforcement officers with K-9 partners

* Dyer County Rescue Squad

* 911 dispatchers

The event is coordinated each year by Mary Ann Lock, Store Manager Joe Ing, HR Manager David Burnham, and assistant managers Tim Roemen, Daniel Hohneck, Mike Cotton and Landen McCage.
