Hubert Vernon Alexander, Sr., 87, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center.
He was a retired maintenance mechanic for Goodyear, member of Dyersburg Church of God of Prophecy and an U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Jim Spivey officiating. Burial will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive visitors from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Alexander of Dyersburg; two daughters, Sheila Walker and husband, Danny, of South Fulton and Sharon Davidson and husband, Claudie of Polk Station; five sons, Vernon Alexander and wife, Virginia, of Union City, Milton Alexander and wife, Susan, of Mumford, William Alexander and wife, Amy, David Alexander and wife, Sherry, and Mark Alexander all of Dyersburg; three sisters, Ellen Patterson of Dyersburg, Ann Snow of Arkansas and Rosella Alexander of Memphis; four brothers, Clifton Alexander of Murray, KY, Arthur Alexander of Knoxville, Thomas Alexander of Mountain Home, AR and John Alexander of Hardy, AR; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Gunnels; a son, Paul Alexander; his parents, Joe and Beulah Glozier Alexander; a sister, Norma Alexander; and a brother, J.C. Alexander.
Pallbearers will be Andy Alexander, Brian Alexander, Justin Alexander, Shane Alexander, Jeff Alexander, Seth Alexander, Brent Davidson, Chris Walker, Cory Walker, Lynn Alexander and Tim Davidson.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Dyersburg/Dyer County Union Mission.
Services for Jennie Mildred Blackburn, 94, of Tigrett, will be at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in the chapel of Friendship Funeral Home with Parks Thurmond officiating. Burial will follow in Bellevernon Cemetery.
Mrs. Blackburn died Sunday, October 14, 2012 at her residence. She was retired from Heckethorn Mfg. and was a member of the Tigrett Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G.W. Blackburn; and her parents, J.W. and Jessie Bills Clark.
Survivors are her daughter, Ginny Baker (Marshall) of Dyer; two sisters, Eva Dell Sanford and Helen Holland both of Friendship; 1 grandson, Glenn Griffin (Ronna); 1 step grandson, John Baker (Lois); 2 great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; two step great great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Rice, Tommy Holland, James Sansom, Danny Gwinn, George Rice and Steve Sanford.
Visitation will begin Tuesday at 10:00AM at the funeral home.
Tony Goff, 50, of Newbern died Friday, October 12, 2012 at his brother's residence. He was a painter and a member of City Gates Church.
Funeral services for Mr. Goff will be Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 1:00 pm in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home with Reverend Clay Nash officiating. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Michael Goff, Todd Seiber, T.J. Sieber, Eric Seiber, Kenneth Godsey and Ed Harvey.
Visitation will be Wednesday, October 17th from 5-8 pm at the funeral home.
He is survived by a daughter, Tabitha Goff of West Yellowstone, Montana, 4 sons, Joshua Goff and Tony Goff of Tempe AZ, Travis Goff of Mesa, AZ, Anthony Goff of Trenton, 3 sisters Terry Aqqad and husband Mohamed of Tampa, FL, Kathy Goff of Rogers, Arkansas, Mary Elizabeth Goff of Newbern, 1 brother Michael Goff and wife Michelle of Newbern and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond Earl and Shirley Jean Goff and 1 sister Sandra D. Goff.
