Receipts on 12 TN Auctions: 10,074 11 Last Week: 8,300 12 Last Year:

Trends: According to the Federal-State Market News Service, compared to
last week: Slaughter cows and bulls steady to 1.00 lower. Steers/bulls
under 500 lbs 5.00 to 10.00 lower, over 500 lbs 1.00 to 4.00 lower.
Heifers steady to 4.00 lower, mostly 2.00 to 4.00 lower on weights
under 600 lbs.
Market showed an overall decline this week on calves with the lighter
offerings the hardest hit. Yearlings are holding up fairly well as they
trend steady to 3.00 lower. Boxed beef prices still not supportive of a
higher fed cattle market as retailers focus on pork and poultry for
holiday menus. Market receipts increased this week with average
receipts around 850 compared to 7000 last week. Several auction markets
will be closed next week in observance of the holiday. Those producers
wishing to sell livestock need to check their local auction market for
sale schedule.
Slaughter Cows 923 head; Bulls 146 head; Total Feeders 8,483 head;
Feeder supply, Steers and bulls 4,735 head; Heifers 3,748; Steers
and heifers over 600 lbs 2,758; Replacement and/or feeder cows
522 head.
