Chick-fil-A to hold food drive for Union Mission

Saturday, November 17, 2012

Chick-fil-A in Dyersburg is offering an incentive for local residents who help fill the food pantry of the Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission. The promotion will take place between Monday, Nov. 19 and Saturday, Dec. 15. As the holiday season officially begins, the Chick-fil-A store in Dyersburg is pledging to treat residents who help to fill the food pantry of the Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission.

Residents who bring at least four food items into the Dyersburg Chick-fil-A will receive a free chicken sandwich. All items collected will benefit the Mission's diminished food pantry or be used in its daily lunch ministry.

The drive will kick off on Monday, Nov. 19 and last through Saturday, Dec. 15.

Items requested in addition to canned goods include non-perishable items like peanut butter, crackers, cornbread or mashed potato mixes, uncooked pastas, Ramon noodles and canned tuna. Residents may also include an inexpensive can opener in their donation.

"Our food pantry is very low," said Dyersburg-Dyer County Union Mission Executive Director Neal Chatham. "But we will not turn anyone away."

"We are limited in what we can give based on what we have available," said Mission Director of Family Help Esther Hugueley.
