Ida Sue Arterbridge was born to the late Ira and Evie Johnson on December 24, 1924. She was born in Crockett County where she lived and was educated. Ida departed this life on Saturday, November 17, 2012. Two (2) sisters: Celia Mae McBride and Hazel Lee Taylor and two (2) brothers: Clyde William and William Thomas Johnson preceded her in death.

She accepted Christ at the age of thirteen and joined Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Tigrett, TN where she served as an usher and member for seventy-four years.

She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Robert Arterbridge, Sr. She was the mother of eight children who have survived her: Robert (Yvette) Arterbridge, Jr., Tina Arterbridge, Brenda Arterbridge (all of Dyersburg, TN); Terry Arterbridge (North Carolina), Evie Williams, Ruthie Johnson, Minnie Arterbridge, Teresa Arterbridge (all of Toledo, OH); 1 sister-in-law: Mattie Arterbridge (Dyersburg, TN); 12 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Buck's Chapel M.B. Church located at 9475 Highway 88 in Maury City, TN, with the Rev. David Lewis, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at Poston Grove Cemetery located at 9475 Highway 88 in Maury City. The family will receive friends Saturday 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at the church.


Samuel David "Bullwhip" Griffin, 55 of Newbern, Tennessee died on Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-East in Memphis, Tennessee.

Born Thursday, July 25, 1957 in Obion County, Tennessee. Mr. Griffin was a former truck driver for Tennessee Freight and John Tosh Farms and a U.S. Army Veteran.

Funeral services for Mr. Griffin will be 3:30, Wednesday, November 21, 2012 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Perry Grills. Visitation will be Thursday from 11:00 AM until service time at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.

Mr. Griffin is survived by two sons, John Griffin & Wife Ashley of Sardis, Mississippi and Robert Griffin of Trimble, Tennessee; three daughters, Ruby Danielle Griffin of Union City, Tennessee, Jessica Griffin of Trimble, Tennessee and Kathy White of Potts Camp, Mississippi; two sisters, Brenda Wilkerson of Newbern, Tennessee and E. Louise Anderson & Husband Steve of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Bentley Griffin and Dixie Lynn Griffin both of Sardis, Mississippi and Tavian Alexander and Jalen Alexander both of Union City, Tennessee, a Uncle, James "Buddy" Garrison and his wife Brenda of Trimble, Tennessee, a Nephew Robert Neal Griffin, Jr. of Newbern, Tennessee and two nieces Renee' Epperson and her husband Jeff of Newbern, Tennessee and Jolie DeLaughter and her husband Aaron of Chattanooga, Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Ruby Florence Garrison Griffin a brother, Robert Neal Griffin, a Niece Laura Anderson and his Grandmother, Lurine Garrison.

Pallbearers will be John Tosh, Cody Tosh, Dewayne French, Robert Griffin, Barry Garrison and Bubba Garrison.

Bobby Jan Ramey, Sr., 70, of Dyersburg, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at his residence.

He was a bomb and arson investigator with the City of Dyersburg and Dyer County, member of Trinity Lutheran Church, member of the Moose Lodge, member of FOP, member of International Association Arson Investigators, avid golfer and an U.S. Army Veteran.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Behnke and Vicker Bill Stevenson officiating. Entombment will be in Dyer County Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive visitors starting at 5 p.m. Friday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Rosemarie Ramey of Dyersburg; a daughter, Teresa Ann Petty of Lexington; a son, Bobby J. Ramey, Jr. of Dyersburg; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Tommy Jan Ramey; his parents, Thomas Sr. and Ruby Prince Ramey; a sister, Billie Joyce Johnson; and a brother, Thomas Carl Ramey, Sr.

Members of the Dyersburg Fire Department will serve as pallbearers.

Ralph Carpenter of Newbern, Tennessee died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at his residence.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.


Mac D. King, 74, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012 at Baptist East Hospital in Memphis.

A memorial service was held at Phillips Street Church of Christ.


Charlotte Sego, of Humboldt, Tennessee died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012 at her residence.
