Don Wallace Childress, 76, of Bogota, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2012 in Bogota.

He was a farmer, graduate of Dyersburg High School, member and treasurer of Bogota Church of Christ, board member of Farm Bureau, President of Elbridge Water Association, served as Dyer County Commissioner for 14 years, Century Farm Recipient, board member of Bogota Drainage District, board member of Bogota Community Center, member of Bogota Volunteer Fire Department, supporter of Dyer County Junior Market Livestock Association and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bogota Church of Christ with Mr. John Huse Robinson and Mr. Todd Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

The family will receive visitors from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Bargery Childress; five children, Julie Childress Moore (Mark), Don Wallace (Wally) Childress II (Tracy), Tony Andrew Childress (LeAnn), Jill Childress Friedmann (Robert) and Jennifer Childress Hampton (Todd); six grandchildren, Drew Ross (Gena), Doug Singleteary (Britni), Olivia Childress, Emma Friedmann, Trey Childress and Ellie Friedmann; four great-grandchildren, Carter Ross, Jared Dale Ross, Ace Ross and Jacks Singleteary; and a sister, Polly Childress Harness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Andrew and Mary Louise Strachn Childress; two brothers, Roy Wilburn Childress and Charles F. Childress; and a grandson, Dale Singleteary.

Pallbearers will be Wally Childress, Tony Childress, Drew Ross, Doug Singleteary, Neal Tubbs, Robert Friedmann, Trey Childress and David Jones.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Bogota Church of Christ or to The Bogota Community Center.

William C. "Bill" Crowson, 90, of Dyersburg, died Saturday, November 24, 2012 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Center.

He was a retired air traffic control specialist with Federal Aviation Administration, a 50 + year member of Phillips Street Church of Christ, former member of Newbern Saddle Club, member of Dyersburg/Dyer County Humane Society, graduate of Greenway High School in Greenway, AR, former employee of Southern Airlines and was a lover of animals, horseback riding and playing golf.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Bro. Andy Brewer and Mr. Edgar Shults officiating. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.

The family received visitors from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife, Tellie Mai Via Harris Crowson of Dyersburg; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kitty and Fred Hughes of Finley; five nieces; and seven nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sue Moore Crowson; his parents, C.C. and Della Davis Crowson; two sisters, Annette Crowson Haywood and Lorell Crowson Whiteside; and four brothers, James V. Crowson, Everett M. Crowson, Earl Crowson and Lemuel Crowson.

Pallbearers were Kyle Caton, Chad Barron, Dan Clevenger, Brodie Cupples, Mike McLaughlin and Doug Medlin.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Dyersburg/Dyer County Humane Society, American Cancer Society or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Floyd McKinley Capps, 73 of Dyersburg, TN, died Thursday at the Methodist Hospice Residence, Memphis, TN.

Graveside services were held Sunday at 3:00 pm at Friendship Cemetery, Friendship, TN.


Elizabeth Johnson, 70, of Henning, died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2012 at Jackson General Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 30 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in Dyersburg. Thompson's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Deborah Louise Love, 67, of Milwaukee, Wis., formerly of Halls, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2012 in Milwaukee.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 1 at Matthew Zion MB Church in Halls. Thompson's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.


Aiden Anthony Lamar Townsend age 2 months old of Dyersburg passed away on Sunday at LeBonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern.

Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
