Fifth Annual Christmas in Sorghum Valley next weekend

If you cannot wait for the end of December to begin celebrating the holidays, then Christmas in Sorghum Valley may be the answer for you. The event, now in its fifth year, hosted by the Dyer County Fair will be held Thursday, Dec. 6 through Saturday, Dec. 8 from 6 to 9 p.m.. Held in the replica village, Christmas in Sorghum Valley is a unique experience that allows visitors to enjoy Christmas in an old-fashion setting.

This year's event is looking to be the largest ever with more than 50 decorated trees, a visit from Santa Claus and his helpers, life-size postcards from local schools, caroling, musical performances in the Sorghum Valley Church, story time in the log cabin, thousands of lights and decorations and wonderful holiday refreshments such as hot chocolate and s'mores!

The event is free and open to the public but in the spirit of giving, the Dyer County Fair Board will be collecting donations of canned goods, animal food, coats, toys, blankets, hearing aids and eyeglasses to support the following organizations:
