Dyer County Sheriff's investigators are looking into a shooting that occurred in Tigrett early on Tuesday morning in which a Dyersburg man was injured.
Around 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Dyer County Sheriff's Deputy Roy Childress was dispatched to the emergency room at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center in reference to a gunshot victim.
Thirty-nine-year old Marcus Johnson of Dyersburg reported to the deputy he and his girlfriend were at the Merry Go Round Bar earlier on Connell Street in Tigrett when a fight broke out. As the fight was going on inside the club, Johnson stated he heard gunshots. He did not know who started the fight or who was doing the shooting. His girlfriend reportedly asked Johnson if he had been shot and he stated he did not know.
Shortly after going home, Johnson decided to go to the emergency room to get checked out because his buttock was hurting.
Hospital staff reportedly performed an X-ray and discovered a bullet approximately 3 inches deep in Johnson's right buttock. Doctors reportedly removed the bullet and Johnson is recovering from his injury.
