Flora Childress Davis, 93, of Dyersburg died Sunday January 27, 2013 at Dyersburg Manor Nursing Facility. Mrs. Davis was born in Dyersburg on June 6, 1919. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and a former member of Eastern Star.

Visitation for Mrs. Davis will be Monday, January 28, 2013, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and 11 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at Curry Funeral Home. Services for Mrs. Davis will be on Tuesday at 1 p.m. graveside conducted by Bro. Lynn King at Fairview Cemetery with interment to follow. Curry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three daughters, Jean Kelley of Newton, N.C., Joyce Ann Davis and Pam Green both of Dyersburg; four grandchildren, Jeff Kelley of Newton, N.C., Dana McIntire of Huntersville, N.C., Adam Green and Molly Green both of Dyersburg; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar Lloyd and Dessie Adams Childress and three brothers, Elvie Childress, Lester Childress, and Grover Childress.

Pallbearers will be Vandel Spoon, Shelton Jones, Adam Green, Toby Horner, Roy Childress, and Bill Pike.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Dyersburg-Dyer County Humane Society.

Funeral services for Jamye Layton Spence, 86, will be held Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at the Crockett Mills Christian Church with Bro. Tom Stolarick and Bro. Travis Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Spence died Monday Jan. 28, 2013 at his home in Crockett Mills, TN surrounded by his family. Mr.Spence was born in Crockett County, on June 27, 1926 as one of ten children to the late Wilson Wade and Nelson Hess Spence. He was a WW II veteran of the U. S. Navy.

In his long and full life, Mr. Spence was a dedicated family man, enjoyed restoring furniture, and growing the best tomatoes in Crockett County. He spent his career painting houses throughout West Tennessee, always driving his beloved station wagons. Above all, Mr. Spence was a strong man of faith and a member of Crockett Mills Christian Church.

He is survived by six children, Sherry Fewell of Friendship, TN, Edna Ray (Leland) of Walnut, MS, Chris Spence (Linda) of Crockett Mills, TN, Ann Freeman (Edwin) of Friendship, TN, Barbara Rogier (Terry) of Humboldt, TN and Eddie Spence (Karol) of Tyler, TX, one sister, Olive Hendren of Midlothian, VA, 11 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Trucilla Moore Spence and one son Gary Thomas Spence. Visitation will be Tuesday Jan. 29th at the funeral home from 5-8 P.M. and Wednesday at the church from 1:00 P.M. until funeral time. Friendship Funeral Home 731-677-2673.


Don Samuel Lewis, 70, of Friendship, died Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will be in Friendship Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors at 5-8 p.m. today at Friendship Funeral Home.
