Held in conjunction with Read Across America, the event is held each year near the birthday of beloved children's book author Dr. Seuss. In Dyersburg, this year's Read Across Town will take place from 5:30 to 7 p.m., on Thursday, March 7.
"Read Across Town is a true celebration of both reading and the community," said McIver's Grant Public Library Director Dara Gonzales. "We are thrilled to be hosting the event at our new library."
With the opening of the McIver's Grant Public Library's new facility in January, children and guest readers will enjoy four new reading stations at this year's event. Volunteer readers will share their favorite stories at the library, City Hall and St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Bradshaw Insurors will host preschoolers and refreshments will be served in the library's new community room.
A crossing guard will be on hand to help provide safe passage for families attending the event at various locations.
Volunteer readers include:
* at McIver's Grant Public Library - Sonja Tucker, Linda Dean, Nancy West, Linda Deberry and Lou Newbill
* at City Hall - John Holden, Betty Jackson, Dara Gonzales, Greg Cherry and Teresa McClure
* at St. Mary's Episcopal Church - Megan Madden, Lane Phillips, Carolyn Tyler, Meredith McMackins and Mia Martin
* at Bradshaw Insurors - Becky Boatright, Jennifer Ebelhar, Candi Harrington and Kathy Hansford.
