Rachel Nicole Swetnam

Rachel was loaned to us starting January 10, 1992 until she died in an accident and was claimed by God on May 14, 2013 on a beautiful Tuesday evening.

In her short time here on earth she accomplished amazing things.

Rachel was a 2010 graduate of Cascia Hall Preparatory School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She had just completed her junior year at the University of Arkansas where she was majoring in Apparel Studies with a minor in Chinese...strange combination but Rachel loved Chinese and knew it would pay off in the fashion industry.

Rachel and her family spent her first sixteen years in Dyersburg, Tennessee where she was a cheerleader and even after the family moved to Tulsa, she maintained many friendships there.

In 2010, Rachel was crowned Miss Teen Oklahoma, probably the first with a Tennessee accent. Her future was very bright as well. She was looking forward to spending the summer in Los Angeles doing an internship with some very popular clothing designers, and had landed a small role in a movie to be filmed in Fayetteville in just a few weeks.

Rachel was blessed with a personality and smile that was impossible to forget. She loved young people and had a special soft spot for older ones. She was a gift from God, taken too early.

She had a strong faith and is most certainly wearing her wings as this is written....Rachel will be excited about that.

Rachel is survived by her parents Janet and Jeff and her sister Sarah, who miss her desperately. She is also survived by grandparents Eunice LaGarde of New Iberia, LA , and Wayne and Madeline Swetnam of Kansas City, MO, aunt and uncles Karen S. Newsom, Greg Swetnam, Craig LaGarde and Edmund Dana LaGarde Jr. and several cousins. She was predeceased by her grandfather, Edmund Dana LaGarde.

Services will be at Christ the King Church in Tulsa at 8:30 AM on Saturday May 18, 2013.

The family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital - http://www.stjude.org/SJFile/MemHonorFor...
