The Dyer County Sheriff's Office is looking into two thefts that occurred last week in the county.
On Tuesday, a Dyer County man reported to sheriff's deputies that someone had stolen approximately 500 pounds of pecans he and his wife had picked up.
The theft reportedly occurred at the victim's residence on Ing Road in the Friendship community sometime between Sunday evening (Nov. 10) an Monday morning (Nov. 11). The pecans were being stored in several tote bags, aluminum pots, and 5-gallon buckets and valued at approximately $400.
Sheriff's investigators are also looking into the theft of one of the State Gazette's newspaper vending machines from the Dollar General at Four Points.
The theft was reported by a State Gazette employee who noticed the machine was missing when they went to deliver papers on Tuesday morning. The machine is reported to have been stolen sometime between Sunday (Nov. 10) and Tuesday (Nov. 12).
