According to Dyersburg Assistant Chief of Police Steve Isbell, on Wednesday, Dec. 25, at approximately 3:48 a.m., police were called to 620 Peabody St. in reference to a shooting. Officers arrived and discovered 34-year-old Quincy Terry of Dyersburg, and 43-year-old James Simonton of 620 Peabody St., Dyersburg, suffering from gunshot wounds. Terry was pronounced dead at Dyersburg Regional Medical Center, and Simonton was treated at the scene and released.
Isbell said multiple bullet holes were found in houses and cars in the vicinity, but there were no related injuries. He added they also called in extra personnel to help in the investigation.
"Officers and investigators also discovered two houses, and two parked vehicles struck by gunfire in the area from what is believed to be stray bullets from the shooting, which took place in front of the Peabody residence," said Isbell. "We had multiple crime scenes to process, and additional officers from dayshift were called in early and third shift officers were held over to assist, along with five criminal investigators."
Isbell said officers and investigators are still investigating the case, and there have not been any arrests at this time.
