UNION CITY - Janet Ivey, a 12-time Emmy and five-time Gracie Award-winning actress, is presenting her live show "Tour of the Solar System" at Discovery Park of America in Union City on Jan. 3, 4 and 5. On Friday, Jan. 3 and Saturday, Jan. 4 the performances will be at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. and on Sunday, Jan. 5 they will be at 1 and 3 p.m.

Ivey can be seen on more than 140 PBS stations across the U.S. She will be performing as her character from "Janet's Planet" at Discovery Park. Once inside the park, the cost of the show is $5.

"Janet's Planet" is 21st-century theater. Combining a live theater experience with music from Gustav Holst's "The Planets, Op. 32," complemented by multi-media and experiential learning, "Janet's Planet" produces a live show that encourages scientific literacy. The show is perfect for children in kindergarten through fifth grade, but can be enjoyed by all.

Through the use of humor, theatrical antics, visual illusions, enticing graphic elements, and opportunities to join Ivey on stage, the audience is fully engaged in the experience of helping to find the necessary elements in space to rebuild the supercomputer, Galileo. One young astronaut in training will even get to walk on the moon! You won't want to miss this intergalactic problem-solving mission fueling STEAM (Science/Technology /Engineering/Art and Design/Math) potential in young earthlings everywhere. After the show, the children attending will complete a craft project to take home.

Ivey is thrilled to be making her debut at Discovery Park of America.

"As a West Tennessee native and hailing from Covington I am proud that West Tennessee has been the innovator with such a theme park," said Ivey. "I am really excited to perform my show and forge a friendship with Discovery Park of America."
