Sherwood ends Northview season in sectional quarterfinals

The Northview boys saw their season and TMSSA Sectional Tournament run come to a close on Tuesday night, falling to Sherwood 51-37 in the quarterfinals in Memphis.

Though the Sherwood boys got off to a good start in the high-scoring opening quarter, the Choctaws were right behind them, thanks to a jumper and a trey by Parker Gordon as well as a pair of Josh Stewart buckets as Northview trailed 17-14 after one quarter.

Sherwood got a six-point second quarter from T.J. McDonald to pace the Mighty Archersí 10-point second frame. Northview answered with a three-pointer from Kaleb Hall as well as a jumper and a free throw from Brayln Taylor as Sherwood led 27-22 at the break.

The Mighty Archer defense kept the Choctaws in check during the third frame, holding Northview to a Drae Stafford trey and a pair of Taylor free throws. Sherwood scored a dozen in the third frame to take a 39-27 lead after three quarter.

Sherwood outscored Northview 12-10 down the stretch to seal the win and advance.

Stewart led the way for the Choctaws with a dozen points while Taylor added eight.
