Elizabeth H. Fowlkes, 91, of Dyersburg, died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Maple Ridge Assisted Living. Born March 27, 1926, she was the daughter of the late John Columbus "Bunk" and Edna Nichols Holden. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church, the Sellers Sunday School Class, and the Thursday Morning Bible Study Group. She worked alongside her husband at Pierce’s Bargain Center in Southtown for many years. Mrs. Elizabeth raised thousands of dollars for the Community Cancer Fund and other local charities by selling her canned goods, sweets and bread. She was a member of Quilters Club at East Dyersburg Methodist, an avid bridge player and fisherman. She was a devoted Mother, Nana, and friend to all she knew, giving unselfishly of herself with her cooking, baking and unconditional love.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in the Chapel of Curry Funeral Home conducted by Reverend Ed White and Reverend Wade Cox with interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Dan Fowlkes, Clint Fowlkes, Richie Fowlkes, Leigh Ann Lehmann, John K. Holden, Patrick N. Holden, Jan Jones, Elizabeth Wilhoite and John Wilhoite.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 22nd from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She is survived by one daughter, Ann Elizabeth Wilhoite (Steve) of Marietta, GA; three sons, Danny Fowlkes (Beverly), of Dyersburg, David Fowlkes (Judy), both of RoEllen; Richard Fowlkes (Sandra) of Dyersburg; six grandchildren, Dan Fowlkes, Richie Fowlkes, Leigh Ann Lehmann, Clint Fowlkes, John Wilhoite and Elizabeth Wilhote; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Pierce C. Fowlkes (5/2/97); one brother, John Nichols Holden (8/16/12) and an infant sister, Isabell Holden.

Martha Jean Langston, 78, of Dyersburg, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Tennova Healthcare Dyersburg Regional.
She was born on February 22, 1939 in Booneville, MS, to the late William Henry Augdon and the late Mirtie Bynam Cartwright Augdon. Martha was a homemaker and a member of Westside Baptist Church.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Deal and the Rev. James Combs officiating. Burial was in Sorrells Chapel Cemetery.
The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include her two daughters, Robin Cloar of Pensacola, FL and Becky Maness of Newbern; two sons, Barry Maness of Newbern and Scott Langston and wife, Brandy, of Dyersburg; and five grandchildren, Caiytlin Magsig, Holly Cloar, Hayden Robles, Leah Langston and Malee Sue Langston.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Judy Mullins, Lora Jean Winchester and Pat Williams; and a brother, Bill Augdon.
Pallbearers were James Chism, Hayden Robles, William Augdon, Jerry Freeman, Jason Winchester and Lanny Tidwell. Honorary pallbearer was Russell Chism.

Joyce Pope "Dude" Martindale, 83 of RoEllen, Tennessee died on Sunday, August 20, 2017, at her residence in Dyersburg, Tennessee.
Born Sunday, July 1, 1934 in Yorkville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Grover C. Pope and the late Clora Belle Ashmore Pope. She was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse with the Dyer County Health Department for forty-three years, member of RoEllen Church of Christ, former girl scout leader and coached girls softball and basketball at the Dyersburg Activity Center for many years.
Funeral services for Mrs. Martindale will be 1:30 PM on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 in the Chapel of Johnson-Williams Funeral Home. Officiating this service will be Bro. Parks Thurmon. Interment will follow in Dyer County Memorial Gardens. Visitation for Mrs. Martindale will be Tuesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
She is survived by one daughter, Carol Martindale of RoEllen, Tennessee and three grandchildren, Rebecca Hughes Troxel (Bradley), Joseph Leonard Smith (Sharon) and April Cochran (Robin) all of RoEllen, Tennessee and four great-grandchildren, Carolina Troxel, Camryn Troxel, Alanna Fortner and Preston "Peppin" Cochran
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard "Jim" Martindale; three sisters, Lucille Morris, Maxine Lemmings and Mildred Hall and three brothers, James Pope, Paul Pope and Grover Pope.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Leonard Smith, Bradley Troxel, Darwin Pope, Dustin Culver, Norman Earl Hall and Tommy Lemmings. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Roberson and Jeff Elliott.

Phillip Anthony Smith, age 71, of Ripley died Monday, August 21, 2017 at home in Ripley.
The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 23 at Faith United Methodist Church, 8301 Hwy 87, Henning, TN with Bro. Tom McElyea officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, following the service.
