At the Shelter

"Saving one animal won’t change the world, but it will change the world for that one animal.” – Vicki Davis, animal adoption activist.

The Shelter capacity is down thanks to rescue groups and adopters. If you can’t adopt, you can donate to a specific animal for veterinary treatment, spaying or neutering or to any of the specific funds at the Shelter (the next to last paragraph of this article lists specific Shelter funds). If you have been thinking about adoption, DON’T WAIT! Remember that Pit Bull Terriers (even mixes) require a home visit to help reduce the chance that the dog will be used for fighting.

Due to a change in the PetFinder website, not all of the ID numbers are available, but the Shelter staff can help you locate the dog or cat you like.

Christmas will soon be here so it’s time to create a Christmas miracle for a Shelter resident. There are plenty of adorable cats, kittens, dogs and puppies to help make your Christmas bright. Come to the Shelter and window shop. Some of the Shelter residents have been there for quite some time. They need a home for the holidays.

Rock #P2017308 is a medium-sized mixed breed. He is white with reddish brown spots. Rock looks like he may have a little bird dog in his mix. He is a very handsome fellow.

Jotun (pronounced yo-tan) #S20171238 is a black Pit Bull Terrier/Labrador mix. He is a large adult male. Jotun is housebroken.

Daisy Mae

Chloe #S20171233 is a large adult Boxer. She is typical for her breed - white and brown, dark ears and eye patches and a black muzzle. Chloe is a real catch.

Sadie #S20171234 is a black and tan mixed breed. She is large and friendly. Just look at that sweet face! Sadie will be an asset to any home.

Francesca #S20171187 is a black Labrador mix puppy. She is a young girl who is ready to romp and run.

Daisy Mae is a German Shepherd mix puppy. She is colored like a German Shepherd. Daisy Mae is a cutie who would be perfect under your Christmas tree with a big red bow.

Jellybean and Weezer are Jack Russell Terrier mix puppies even though these girls do not resemble their breed. Jellybean is black and brown brindle and Weezer is brown and white. Jellybean and Weezer may not look like Jack Russells, but their DNA will most probably make them active and intelligent.

Dice, Beast and Popsicle are male Jack Russell Terrier mix puppies. Dice looks a bit like Jellybean but is brown and tan. Beast looks as though there may be some Bassett Hound in his mix. At last, Popsicle looks more like his Jack Russell ancestry.

Beamer is a large mixed breed puppy. He is black and white. Strangely, Beamer looks more like a Jack Russell than the Jack Russell mixes. Beamer is rumored to have Labrador in his mix.

Galileo is a Pit Bull Terrier mix. He is a medium-sized male puppy. Galileo is a real black and white doll.

Athena is a young Great Pyrenees mix. She is black and white. Athena is a credit to her namesake goddess.

Mississippi is a large, young Pit Bull Terrier mix. She is light tan and white. Mississippi can offer an air of Southern charm to any home.

Snowball is a young Beagle mix. He is medium-sized and is mostly white with tan ears. Snowball has a most appealing face.

Korah is a lovely dark gray tabby and white cat. She has been at the Shelter for a long time as have many of the other cats. Rescue them for Christmas and get on Santa’s “nice” list.

See these pets and many others on or and type 38024 zip. If you are a Facebook fan please like and share our shelter page, Dyersburg, TN Share for Rescue.
