At the Shelter

"Dogs are the leaders of the planet. If you see two life forms, one of themís making a poop and the other oneís carrying it for him, who would you assume is in charge?" Ė Jerry Seinfeld, comic

The Shelter has received several new residents since the beginning of the year. Even though the number of residents is not critical at this point, spring is coming when business begins to boom. The more animals that are adopted, the more space there is for new ones. Donít forget that donations can be made to an animal that you like but canít adopt. Remember that Pit Bull Terriers (even mixes) require a home visit to help reduce the chance that the dog will be used for fighting.

Due to unexpected expenses and necessary upgrades, the Shelter is having a hard time making ends meet. If you can spare a donation, the Shelter would be very grateful. Our next major fund raiser will not be until May Ė Bark in the Park. Thatís a long dry stretch! Mail any donations to P.O. Box 223, Dyersburg, TN 38025-0223. If you have not been to the Shelter recently, stop by and check out all the new improvements (especially odor control).

Donít forget that there are still nearly 40 cats and kittens looking for a home. You can find almost any color, male, female, kitten, young, adult, etc. Come and browse the cat room. Are you the owner of their perfect home? Sable and Bubble are the cat pin-ups for this week.

Itís warming up a bit but it is still too cold to leave outside pets with no water or shelter.

Sunny is a black and white, medium-sized mixed breed adult dog. She looks a little concerned but she was slipping out of her handlers hands at the time. Sunny could provide a little sunshine to someoneís gloomy winter day.

Pepper is a medium-sized, mixed breed young lady. She is tan with a white muzzle and eyebrows. Pepperís eyebrows add a comic touch.

Kiki is a mixed breed puppy. She may grow into a large dog. Kiki is adorable Ė reddish brown with matching socks on her front feet.

Girly is a black and white beagle with tan accents. She should grow to be medium-sized. Girly is a real doll with her face split into a yin-yang design.

Ellie is a German Shepherd/Siberian Husky mix puppy. She is just a ball of white fluff that may grow into a large dog. As a puppy, Ellie tends to look like her husky heritage.

Buddy is a medium-sized mixed breed young fellow. He is mostly black with tan headlights over his eyes. Buddy will be a great pal for some lucky person.

Shadow is a dark gray/blue Pit Bull mix. He looks a little downcast and may have seen better days. All Shadow needs is some loving care to make him reach his potential. Thereís a great looking dog hiding here.

Hank is a young large mixed breed. He has a very shiny black coat. Hank looks like he could use a friend and is just waiting for a good petting complete with a scratch behind the ears.

Lucie is a medium-sized Pointer mix. She is black and white with a splash of black freckles. Lucie is pretty laid back and seems to be sleeping through her photo session.

Sawyer is a young Border Collie mix. He is black and white and extremely handsome. Sawyer is medium-sized and will be easy to train based on his Border Collie genetics.

Sissy is a small brown Dachshund mix. She would be a super companion dog for someone living in a small apartment or limited to a small yard. Like most of us, Sissy needs a diet after the holidays.

Paul is a large black Labrador mix. He looks sad in his picture, but his disposition would change if a good buddy would tromp with him through the woods or to a duck blind.

Chase is a large St. Bernard mix. He is tan with a black muzzle, dark tan ears, and a white chest and paws. Chase has very expressive eyebrows.

See these pets and many others on or and type 38024 zip. If you are a Facebook fan please like and share our shelter page, Dyersburg, TN Share for Rescue. The more exposure the animals receive the better the chances for adoption. Stop by The Pet Stop any day of the week to see a selection of shelter cats and kittens offered for adoption.
