On Thursday at 5 p.m., McIver’s Grant Public Library held a dedication ceremony for the garden located on the grounds. The garden was dedicated to the memory of Richard E. Donner as well as to honor Becky Heckethorn. Lee Weakley, chairperson of the McIver’s Grant Public Library Board, addressed those who had gathered in the garden. Following the dedication service, those in attendance toured the garden were treated with hors d’oeuvres. A variety of plants are displayed in the library garden including hydrangeas, verbena, boxwood and azaleas, among others. The garden also contains a fountain donated from Michael Heckethorn and a statue in honor of Penny Hearn Law. A section of the garden has also been reserved for various children’s projects. The library is also taking donations for bricks that form the walking paths. The bricks are $100 each and can be engraved with ‘in memory’, ‘in honor’, or special recognition. Funds raised from the bricks go toward the library foundation.
