1-vehicle accident results in fatality on Hwy 412
Late Monday evening, the Tennessee Highway Patrol responded to a one-vehicle accident on Highway 412 near Dyersburg. The accident resulted in one fatality, a 16-year-old female juvenile from Lake County.
According to THP Trooper Jerry Mealer, the victim was the lone occupant traveling in a gray Nissan Altima driving westbound on Highway 412. The vehicle exited the right side of the roadway approximately 150 feet before the beginning of the bridge railing, located between Beaver Road and the Highway 104 exit.
The vehicle went to the right of it [bridge railing], down the grass embankment about 500 feet to a creek, said Trooper Mealer. [The vehicle] got airborne 40-50 feet over the creek, [and] hit the creek bank on the far side with the left side of the vehicle.
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
