Surcy Lee Anderson, 90, of Dyersburg, TN, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 at the Highlands of Dyersburg. He was born on April 24, 1928, in Finley, TN, to the late Cecil Anderson and Grace Yelvington Anderson. Surcy was a retired shift foreman for Dyersburg Cotton Products, where he worked for 51 years. He was a member of the Dyersburg Cotton Products Bowling Team, a member of Finley United Pentecostal Church and a member of "Victory Quartet", which members include: Surcy Anderson, Buck Moore, Peggy Farley, Ray Jones, Jr. and pianist Shirley Anderson. In 1991 at the age of 63, Surcy received his GED from Dyersburg State Community College. For 30 years he had mourned the death of his wife, Shirley and longed to be with her. God has now granted his request to join her and his loved ones who have gone on before.
Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery officiated by Bro. Doug Ellingsworth, Pastor of Finley United Pentecostal Church with music provided by Tim Walker. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
The family will receive visitors from 2:30-3:45 p.m. Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Dyersburg Funeral Home.
Survivors include his son, David Anderson and wife, Dianne Weaver Anderson, a granddaughter, Amanda Anderson Williams and husband, Richie Williams; a great-granddaughter, Brylee Williams; and a sister, Mary Sue Anderson Smith and husband, Ivan Smith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 39 years, Shirley Raley Anderson; three brothers, Arthur Anderson, Elvis Anderson and Sylvester Anderson; and a sister, Mildred Anderson Tidwell.
Pallbearers will be Mark Anderson, Paul Anderson, Jimmie Anderson, Gene Finley, George Swader and Ronnie Patton.
Ricky Lynn Burns, age 61, of Halls died Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Baptist Memorial Hospital East of Memphis, TN. Services will be held at Halls Funeral home on Thursday September 13,2018 at 2pm with Bro. Bobby Jacobs officiating. Visitation will be Thursday September 13,2018 from 11am until service time.
Stephen Lyn Fair, Sr., 48, of Rutherford, Tennessee, died Saturday at his residence. Graveside services for Mr. Fair will be 1:00 PM on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at Fairview Cemetery in Newbern, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. Richard Poole. Wallace E. Sexton, 77, of Newbern, Tennessee died on Monday, September 10, 2018, at his residence in Newbern, Tennessee.
Born Tuesday, October 22, 1940 in Round Lake, Florida, he was the son of the late Guilford Robert Sexton and the late Mary Ethel Welch Sexton. Mr. Sexton was a 1964 graduate of Memphis State University and was a member of the 1963 undefeated Memphis State Tiger Football Team. He served as director the Tennessee Technology Center of Newbern for forty one years and was a member of the Newbern First United Methodist Church.
Graveside services for Mr. Sexton will be 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Grace Cemetery in Ripley, Tennessee. Officiating this service will be Rev. James Combs. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Johnson-Williams Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Lynn Hargett Sexton of Newbern, Tennessee; three daughters, Sherry Sexton King (Mike), Kelli Leigh Sexton (Jimmy "Hen" Hendren) and Dana Sexton Johnson (Jay) all of Newbern, Tennessee; eight grandchildren, Allexandria Pugh, Allyson Pugh, Savannah Williams, Adam Williams, Will Rushing, Nick Rushing, Maggie Johnson and Jaycob Johnson and one great-grandchild, Laila Watson
In addition to his parents he was preceded by one brother, Robert Cecil Sexton and three sisters, Yvonne Barber, Glenda Gray and Edith Locke.
Pallbearers will be Rudy Page, Mike Smith, Mark Pledge, Roger Page, Donald Pugh, Jarrell Thornton, David Via and Haskins Ridens.
