Dyersburg provides operational updates

The Dyersburg City Hall lobby was closed to the public on Thursday until further notice. Other city departments also began closing or updating operational procedures throughout the remainder of the day.

On Thursday, March 19, Dyersburg City Hall and various city departments announced updates in operation. The updates include closing the lobby of City Hall, and operational procedures currently in effect for City Court, the gas department, and codes enforcement.

The information presented by each department is listed below:

City Hall:

A release from the office of Dyersburg Mayor John Holden about the closing of the City Hall lobby is as follows:

““In order to protect our employees and citizens form the spread of COVID-19, the City Hall lobby will be closed to the public until further notice. Due to the closing, the following procedures will be implemented:

“Payments can me made

- Use of our two drive-thru lanes or the drop box for after hours

- Online payments at www.dyersburgtn.gov

- Mailing your payments to Dyersburg City Hall, P.O. Box 1358, Dyersburg, TN 38025-1358

- Paying by phone 844-225-7114

“New services/ disconnections/ building permits

- Please call 731-288-7604 to discuss new services, disconnection and building permits. You will be given information on what items to bring in and if a deposit is required. Customers doing a new service will be given an appointment to come in and sign paperwork.

“As we monitor the COVID-19 pandemic, our main priority is to protect each of our employees, their families and our citizens. There may be additional procedural changes or building closings as this situation evolves. We will do our very best to keep you informed. City Court:

The Dyersburg City Court office, located at 435 West Market Street inside the Lyman Ingram building, announced they are closing the doors to the public.

City court officials indicated for individuals needing make a payment can do so by phone or by mail. Tickets can be paid online at www.dyersburgcitypmts.com or toll free at 1-877-793-7965.

Individuals on drug screens are asked to call the office at 731-288-2517. When calling, you will be asked to provide a good, current address.

For any additional inquiries or to reset your cases, please call the Dyersburg City Court office.

Dyersburg Gas System:

The Dyersburg Gas System will not be doing customer light ups due to the current situation with the coronavirus pandemic. If you have the gas turned on at a new location, a member of the gas department will meet the landowner or their agent to turn the meter on. The owner or their agent will be responsible for lighting all pilots. The Dyersburg Gas System apologizes for any inconvenience, but feels this will help keep all customers and employees safe.

Codes Enforcement:

In an effort to safeguard the health of clients, employees, and the community, the Dyersburg Codes Department has closed their office, effective March 19. The department’s staff will be available by phone only.

Limited inspections will be available and permits will be obtained by phone only.
