Academic plans for local students available next week

Dyer County and Dyersburg City School students will soon have a remote education experience under their belts as they remain at home amid attempts to contain the coronavirus outbreak.

Late this week, both school systems announced academic details for their students.

Dyer County Schools:

Beginning Wednesday, March 25, students Pre-K through 5th grade will have an academic packet available from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at each school.

Students who are in 6th grade through high school and do not have Internet access will be provided on Wed. March 25 from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Students in those grades who do have access to the web will be able to communicate with teachers via Google classroom. Online resource information will be provided to students.

Special Education students in grades Pre-K through 12th will have individual packets available for pick up at their school. The special education teacher will communicate with each parent.

All educational plans are subject to change.

Dyersburg City Schools:

Pre-K through 5th grade students will pick up academic packets at each food distribution site beginning Tuesday, March 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. They will also be available in PDF format on each school’s website at www.dyersburgcityschools.org/dps and www.dyersburgcityschools.org/dis.

Students in grades 6 through high school will communicate with teachers via Google classroom if that was the previous method of classroom instruction. Otherwise, assignments can be picked up at each food distribution site beginning Tues. March 24 from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. or downloaded in PDF format from each school’s website at www.dyersburgcityschools.org/dms and www.dyersburgcityschools.org/dhs.

Pre-K through 12th grade special education self contained class students should pick up an appropriate grade-level packet at the feeding site. Special education teachers will communicate with each parent regarding modifications and accommodations.
