County, city schools announce new pickup days for meals

Dyer County and Dyersburg School Systems recently announced new pickup days for student meals beginning the week of April 6. Additionally, Dyersburg City Schools will have students’ second wave of academic packets available on April 7.

Meals are available to all area children under the age of 18, regardless of district affiliation. Children must be present to receive the meals. Three breakfast and three lunch meals will be available on each designated pickup day by each school system. Meals are for pickup and not to be consumed on site.

Below are the updates from each school system:

Dyer County Schools:

Meal pickup times are 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. at the following locations:

• Dyer County High School (front entrance)

• Fifth Consolidated Elementary (bus-loading entrance)

• Finley Elementary (gym entrance under awning)

• Holice Powell Elementary (cafeteria dining entrance)

• Newbern Elementary (cafeteria dining area patio entrance)

• Northview Middle (front entrance)

• Three Oaks Middle (cafeteria dock entrance)

• Trimble Elementary (front entrance)

All citizens are asked to stay in their automobiles and proceed through the pickup line. All pedestrians will pick up their meals at the entrance of the site. All sites are subject to change or cancellation based on the safety of employees, volunteers, and local citizens.

Dyersburg City Schools:

Meal pickup times are 10 a.m. – noon Tuesdays and Thursdays at the following locations:

• Hendren Heights, 333 Sellers

• Bruce Recreation Center, 801 Vernon

• Future City Recreation Center, 490 St. Joseph

• Lipford Circle/ Thurmon (new location)

• Second Baptist Church, 1720 Schaffer

• New Birth Ministry, 215 High

• Greentree Apartments, 725 U.S. Hwy. 51

• Church of Jesus Christ, 601 Christie

• Dyersburg Intermediate School (Phillips St. side)

• Dyersburg High School (East side entrance, drive-thru only)

• Union Mission, 213 West Cedar

Additionally, the second round of academic packets for Dyersburg students will become available Tuesday, Apr. 7. Academic packets for various grades can be obtained the following ways:

• Pre-K – 5th grade

Students will pick up academic packet #2 from each food distribution site beginning Tuesday, Apr. 7 from 10 a.m. – noon. The packet will also be available in PDF format on each school’s website at www.dyersburgcityschools.org/dps and www.dyersburgcityschools.org/dis.

• Grades 6-8

Teachers will communicate with students through Google classroom if that was the previous method of classroom instruction. Otherwise, academic packet #2 can be picked up from each food distribution site beginning Tuesday, Apr. 7 from 10 a.m. – noon or downloaded in PDF format from the Dyersburg Middle School website at www.dyersburgcityschools.org/dms.

• Grades 9-12

All courses will be available through Google classroom. Students may interact with their teacher through this format. Please look for your login code through your email. Students who need their email password reset will need to contact Mrs. Kim Yeiter at 731-503-0276 (test or call). Otherwise, academic packet #2 can be picked up from each food distribution site beginning Tuesday, Apr. 7 from 10 a.m. – noon or downloaded from the Dyersburg High School website at www.dyersburgcityschools.org/dhs.

• Special Education classes Pre-K – 12

Individual packets may be picked up or delivered. The special education teacher will communicate with each parent regarding this process.
