Eleven reported COVID-19 cases in Dyer County

During the most recent COVID-19 update from the Tennessee Department of Health on Wednesday, April 8, at 2 p.m., it was reported that Dyer County had 11 confirmed COVID-19 cases, an increase of one from Tuesday. The state department of health also noted a total of 164 individuals had been tested for the virus in the county with 153 negative results.
During Wednesdays update, the state department of health confirmed the positive COVID-19 cases in the state were at 4,362 with 449 hospitalizations, 592 recoveries, and 79 fatalities reported. The total number of negative cases in Tennessee was at 52,256. The total amount tested statewide was 56,618.
At the state public health laboratory, a total of 2,950 COVID-19 tests have been performed, resulting in 2,602 negatives and 348 positive.
In all other commercial and private laboratories, a total of 53,668 COVID-19 tests have been completed with 49,654 testing negative and 4,014 positive.
The majority of positive cases were in metropolitan areas, mostly in Middle Tennessee, such as Davidson Co. (Nashville 946 positive; 6,588 negative), Rutherford Co. (Murfreesboro 193 positive; 1,706 negative), Sumner Co. (Gallatin/Hendersonville 376 positive; 1,413 negative), Williamson Co. (Franklin 287 positive; 2,134 negative), and Wilson Co. (Mt. Juliet/Lebanon 117 positive; 1,168 negative).
In other metro areas, Knox Co. (Knoxville) has 148 positive cases and 1,698 negative, while Hamilton Co. (Chattanooga) had 94 confirmed cases and 1,053 negative.
In West Tennessee, Shelby Co. (Memphis) is second in the state with reported COVID-19 confirmed cases. The state health department noted Shelby Co. had 912 positive cases with 4,116 negative.
The COVID-19 test results for all West Tennessee counties, as of 2 p.m. April 6, is as follows:
Benton 4 positive, 65 negative; Carroll 8 positive, 154 negative; Chester 6 positive, 90 negative; Crockett 0 positive, 53 negative; Decatur 1 positive, 59 negative; Dyer 11 positive, 153 negative; Fayette 22 positive, 216 negative; Gibson 13 positive, 243 negative; Hardeman 6 positive, 107 negative; Hardin 2 positive, 184 negative; Haywood 7 positive, 68 negative; Henderson 2 positive, 131 negative; Henry 6 positive, 134 negative; Lake 0 positive, 22 negative; Lauderdale 6 positive, 83 negative; Madison 43 positive, 484 negative; McNairy 7 positive, 92 negative; Obion 4 positive, 97 negative; Shelby 912 positive, 4,116 negative; Tipton 38 positive, 329 negative; and Weakly 5 positive, 121 negative.
The department also reported 282 confirmed cases (9,754 negative) from individuals who reside outside the state lines and 31 positive results (8,244 negative) results for those listed as pending.

To help flatten the curve and reduce the impact of COVID-19, the Tennessee Department of Health recommends the following:
Wash your hands often with soap and water (or alcohol-based hand rub) for at least 20 seconds, especially after coughing or sneezing
Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands
Stay home when you are sick
Cover your coughs and sneezes with your arm or a tissue
Clean and disinfect objects (e.g., cell phone, computer) and high touch surfaces regularly
Take everyday precautions to keep space between yourself and others
When you go out in public, keep away from others who are sick, limit close contact and wash your hands often
Avoid crowds as much as possible
Avoid cruise travel and non-essential air travel
During a COVID-19 outbreak in your community, stay home as much as possible to further reduce your risk of being exposed.
