TDH reports first COVID-19 fatality in Dyer County

When the daily COVID-19 case numbers updated on Wednesday, July 1 at 2 p.m., the Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) reported Dyer County as having a total of 225 COVID-19 cases (total numbers include confirmed and probable) with 98 recoveries. The TDH also reported on Tuesday, Dyer County had experienced its first virus-related fatality.

Dyer County’s PCR positive tests results was listed as 242 with the PCR negatives reported at 2,758.

Statewide, Tennessee’s total COVID-19 case count was reported at 45,315 on Wednesday, with 44,951 confirmed and 364 probable. There were 28,283 recoveries (62 percent).

TDH noted the total death count in Tennessee was 609 (1 percent), with 583 confirmed and 26 probable.

Other statewide numbers included the following

- Hospitalizations: 2,715 hospitalized (6 percent), 26,766 not hospitalized (59 percent), and 15,834 pending (35 percent)

- Laboratory Testing: 52,617 PCR positive; 764,905 PCR negative

- Total Tested: 817,522

Shelby County (Memphis) continues to lead the state in the most total COVID-19 cases, reported at 10,344 on Wednesday. Davidson County (Nashville) had the second most, coming in at 9,769.
