Dyersburg Post Office closed due to ‘Emergency situation’

On Friday morning, July 31, local citizens attempting to complete business at the Jere Cooper Federal Building (Dyersburg Post Office) were met with a sign on the door stating the office was closed.

Reportedly, work was being completed on the interior of the building when asbestos was discovered.

The sign on the door stated:

Emergency Situation

Dyersburg Post Office is closed until further notice

This includes the retail window and PO Box lobby

For stamp and money order purchases, the following offices can assist you

Newbern Post Office

105 Biffle Road

Newbern, TN 38059

Hours 8:30-4:30 M-F, 9:30-11:30 Sat., closed Sunday

Finley Post Office

5496 TN-104

Finley, TN 38024

Hours 9:30-12:00, 1:00-4:30 M-F, 9:00-10:30 Sat., closed Sunday

  • Getting stamps and money orders from Newbern or Finley is fine. But what about the box holders who depend on the post office to get their bills?

  • You should be pro rated on your monthly charge for the p.o.box

    I'm worried about being in the building while they were working Thursday morning.
