Dyer County COVID-19 update for September 9

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Wednesday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 1,061 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probably cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 112 active cases with 938 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus increased from 10 to 11.
The TDH reported Dyer County as having 1,154 PCR positive test results and 8,683 PCR negative results.
On Aug. 3, the TDH discontinued reporting recovered cases and began including the number of inactive/recovered cases in their daily updates. The inactive/recovered numbers include cases who are 14 days or more beyond their illness onset date (or specimen date for asymptomatic individuals) and who are not deceased.
Wednesday’s numbers in comparison to those released yesterday, Sept. 8, are as follows:

Statewide, Tennessee was reported having 166,587 total cases, with 162,028 confirmed and 4,559 probable in Wednesday’s update. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 149,698 (90 percent).
Total deaths in the state were reported at 1,931 (1 percent), with 1,875 confirmed and 56 probable.
A total of 2,362,943 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the state with 2,165,995 resulting in PCR negatives and 196,948 PCR positive results.
Tennessee COVID-19 hospitalizations listed by the TDC on Wednesday was as follows:
- 7,444 hospitalizations (4 percent)
- 101,911 not hospitalized (61 percent)
- 57,232 pending (35 percent)
Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 28,117, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 24,513.
In the counties neighboring Dyer County, the TDH reported the following results:
Crockett: 436 total; 53 active; 368 recoveries/inactive; 15 deaths
Gibson: 1,256 total; 185 active; 1,053 recoveries/inactive; 18 deaths
Lake: 850 total; 12 active; 836 recoveries/inactive; 2 deaths
Lauderdale: 831 total; 138 active; 679 recoveries/inactive; 14 deaths
Obion: 940 total; 121 active; 811 recoveries/inactive; 8 deaths
