Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 13

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Wednesday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,642 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 356 active cases with 4,205 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus remained at 81.

TDH COVID-19 Dyer County Data Dashboard:

The TDH launched a COVID-19 website, https://covid19.tn.gov, which helps streamline and simplify some of the most frequently requested COVID-19 data. The site, which can be accessed for both desktop and mobile users, offers dashboards and daily reports with state and county-level information including case counts, hospitalizations and tests conducted.

As of 4:15 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, the numbers reflected were as follows:

Dyer County was listed as having 87 COVID-19 related hospitalizations. New active cases from Jan. 12 to Jan. 13 increased by 33.

The website also lists case counts and daily case rates from the following time periods:

- Most recent 7 days (Jan. 7, 2021 – Jan. 13, 2021)

210 case count; 80.7 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Most recent 14 days (Dec. 31, 2020 – Jan. 13, 2021)

413 case count; 79.4 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Previous 14 days (Dec. 17, 2020 – Dec. 30, 2020)

437 case count; 84 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Total (March 5, 2020 – Jan. 13, 2021)

4,642 case count; 39.8 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

Additionally, the website reported Dyer County has averaged 68.71 tests per day (184.9 tests per 100,000 residents) over the past 7 days.

The average positive percentage of tests, over the most recent 7 days, was 19.8 percent.

TDH COVID-19 numbers in Tennessee:

Statewide, on Wednesday, Tennessee was reported having 665,499 total cases, with 572,619 confirmed and 92,880 probable. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 588,974.

Total deaths in the state were reported at 8,148, with 6,856 confirmed and 1,292 probable.

Tennessee has issued 5,915,239 tests. As of Wednesday afternoon, there were 3,029 hospitalizations.

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 74,266, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 68,646.

Other Tennessee counties that have surpassed the 10,000 total case mark are Knox (Knoxville) at 37,548, Hamilton (Chattanooga) at 33,436, Rutherford (Murfreesboro) at 32,214, Williamson (Franklin) at 20,736, Sumner (Hendersonville/Gallatin) at 17,710, Wilson (Lebanon) 14,048, Montgomery (Clarksville) 13,667, Sullivan (Blountville/Bristol) 12,209, Washington (Jonesborough/Johnson City) 11,603, Blount (Maryville) at 11,300, Maury (Columbia) 10,666, Bradley (Cleveland) 10,355, and Sevier (Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) 10,112.

TDH COVID-19 Vaccine Report (updated on Jan. 11):

Tennessee has reported a total of 271,575 vaccinations, with 11,121 of those reported within the previous day of the issuance of the report.

For Dyer County, it was reported 3.83 percent of the population has received one dose of the vaccine, while 0.57 of the population has received their second dose.
