Dyer County COVID-19 update for January 15

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Friday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 4,692 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 321 active cases with 4,290 recoveries/inactive cases. The total number of deaths due to the virus remained at 81.

TDH COVID-19 Dyer County Data Dashboard:

The TDH launched a COVID-19 website, https://covid19.tn.gov, which helps streamline and simplify some of the most frequently requested COVID-19 data. The site, which can be accessed for both desktop and mobile users, offers dashboards and daily reports with state and county-level information including case counts, hospitalizations and tests conducted.

As of 4 p.m. Friday afternoon, the numbers reflected were as follows:

Dyer County was listed as having 87 COVID-19 related hospitalizations. New active cases from Jan. 14 to Jan. 15 increased by 28.

The website also lists case counts and daily case rates from the following time periods:

- Most recent 7 days (Jan. 9, 2021 – Jan. 15, 2021)

186 case count; 71.5 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Most recent 14 days (Jan. 2, 2021 – Jan. 15, 2021)

394 case count; 75.7 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Previous 14 days (Dec. 19, 2020 – Jan. 1, 2021)

415 case count; 79.8 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

- Total (March 5, 2020 – Jan. 15, 2021)

4,692 case count; 40 daily case rate (per 100,000 residents)

Additionally, the website reported Dyer County has averaged 59.57 tests per day (160.3 tests per 100,000 residents) over the past 7 days.

The average positive percentage of tests, over the most recent 7 days, was 18.7 percent.

TDH COVID-19 numbers in Tennessee:

Statewide, on Friday, Tennessee was reported having 676,039 total cases, with 580,743 confirmed and 95,296 probable. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 602,938.

Total deaths in the state were reported at 8,311, with 6,970 confirmed and 1,341 probable.

Tennessee has issued 5,972,373 tests. As of Friday afternoon, there were 2,857 hospitalizations.

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 75,260, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 69,679.

Other Tennessee counties that have surpassed the 10,000 total case mark are Knox (Knoxville) at 38,097, Hamilton (Chattanooga) at 34,075, Rutherford (Murfreesboro) at 32,696, Williamson (Franklin) at 21,054, Sumner (Hendersonville/Gallatin) at 17,980, Wilson (Lebanon) 14,242, Montgomery (Clarksville) 14,085, Sullivan (Blountville/Bristol) 12,405, Washington (Jonesborough/Johnson City) 11,757, Blount (Maryville) at 11,708, Maury (Columbia) 10,812, Bradley (Cleveland) 10,583, and Sevier (Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) 10,320.

TDH COVID-19 Vaccine Report (updated on Jan. 14):

Tennessee has reported a total of 330,775 vaccinations, with 11,105 of those reported within the previous day of the issuance of the report.

For Dyer County, it was reported 4.79 percent of the population has received one dose of the vaccine, while 0.67 of the population has received their second dose.
