All extracurricular activities have been suspended until further notice. More information will be released pertaining to school meals, educational planning, and extracurricular activities as soon as possible."

Concerning sports, the school closures and suspension of extracurricular activities lead to the cancellation of several games set this week while the schools were on spring break. The total includes about 15 games, many of which were actually games added to the schedule over the weekend when games scheduled between local teams and schools in Memphis, Tipton County and out of state were cancelled do to the virus concerns.

In addition, both school systems released statements regarding the use of their athletic facilities.

Dyersburg's statement stated:

No outside use. This is for everyone. The closure includes all system athletics as well as all outside teams/organizations. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation."

Meanwhile, Dyer County's statement stated:

"Due to schools being closed until March 31, all extracurricular activities have been suspended on all Dyer County campuses and facilities. These include but are not limited to school and non-school teams games, practices, weight training and any other type of activities.
