Dyer County COVID-19 update for September 14

With the release of the Tennessee Department of Health’s (TDH) daily COVID-19 update on Monday, the department reported Dyer County as having a total of 1,152 COVID-19 cases, which consist of confirmed and probable cases. Additionally, the TDH said that Dyer County had 157 active cases with 983 recoveries/inactive cases.

The total number of deaths due to the virus increased over the weekend from 11 to 12.

Additionally, TDH reported Dyer County as having 1,249 PCR positive cases and 9,280 PCR negative cases.

TDH COVID-19 numbers in Tennessee:

Statewide, Tennessee was reported having 174,274 total cases, with 169,130 confirmed and 5,144 probable in Monday’s update. Recoveries/Inactive cases were listed at 156,808 (90 percent).

Total deaths in the state were reported at 2,097 (1 percent), with 2,026 confirmed and 71 probable.

A total of 2,487,707 COVID-19 tests have been performed in the state with 2,282,076 resulting in PCR negatives and 205,631 PCR positive results.

Tennessee COVID-19 hospitalizations listed by the TDC on Monday was as follows:

- 7,766 hospitalizations (4 percent)

- 107,573 not hospitalized (62 percent)

- 58,935 pending (34 percent)

Shelby County (Memphis) continued to lead the state in total COVID-19 cases with 28,963, while Davidson County (Nashville) is second, with 25,345.

In the counties neighboring Dyer County, the TDH reported the following results:

Crockett: 469 total; 61 active; 389 recoveries/inactive; 19 deaths

Gibson: 1,379 total; 232 active; 1,128 recoveries/inactive; 19 deaths

Lake: 863 total; 18 active; 843 recoveries/inactive; 2 deaths

Lauderdale: 885 total; 161 active; 710 recoveries/inactive; 14 deaths

Obion: 999 total; 137 active; 854 recoveries/inactive; 8 deaths

The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) Data Dashboard results for Dyer County Schools were last updated today, Sept. 14, at 11:25 a.m., while Dyersburg’s results remained the same, with their most recent update occurring on Sept. 4.

Students: 12 new cases within the last reported week were students within the Dyer County School System

Staff: <5 number of new cases from staff members within the last reported week

Dyersburg City Schools:

Students: <5 new cases within the last reported week were students within the Dyersburg City School System. The dashboard also noted these cases were from students of Dyersburg Middle School.

Staff: <5 new cases within the last reported week were staff members within the Dyersburg City School System. The dashboard indicated these cases were from staff members of Dyersburg Primary School.

The release added TDOE is requesting districts to submit information on a weekly basis and reporting across every district in the state is expected by September 22.
