NPD seeks suspect for attempted first-degree murder

The Newbern Police Department is currently attempting to locate Luis Fernando Sanchez-Flores, 29, of Newbern on charges of especially aggravated burglary and attempted first-degree murder. The charges are the result of an ongoing investigation conducted by the Criminal Investigations Division related to an incident that occurred on January 26, 2023. At approximately 7:00 p.m., patrol officers responded to a call for service concerning a Hispanic male subject making forced entry into a residence. After making entry into the residence a male victim was attacked by the suspect with a machete. The victim was transported to West Tennessee Healthcare of Dyersburg for treatment. This suspect was an acquaintance of the homeowner and this is an isolated incident.

Luis Fernando Sanchez-Flores is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5'5", and 160 lbs. He was last seen driving a 2007 Chevy Silverado pewter in color bearing Tennessee registration 361BDXB.

The Newbern Police Department asks anyone with knowledge of the incident or the whereabouts of Luis Fernando Sanchez-Flores to contact Investigator Danny Tippit at 731-627-2571 or Crime Stoppers at 731-285-TIPS (8477).
