Three Oaks Middle School will have a new face calling the plays as the Lady Choctaw basketball team looks to make another run at the state tournament as assistant coach Nakeeva Brandon has been named the new head coach of the girls basketball program.

“I'm beyond excited and thankful for the opportunity to continue to pour into the younger generation of athletes,” Brandon said. “One of our main jobs as coaches is not only to make players better athletes, but also to make them better humans for the world.”

Brandon is a former Lady Choctaw basketball player at Dyer County High School where she was part of the program's first trip to the TSSAA Class AAA State Tournament in 2016.

“Basketball has been a big part of my life,” Brandon added. “I've played at the college level where I got to experience the National Tournament. High school and middle school also where most of the coaches I had made a huge impact on me.

“The game of basketball has taught me so many life lesson such as accountability, hard work and commitment and I'm so excited to teach these girls!”

“Three Oaks middle school is thrilled to have Nakeeva Brandon as our girls basketball head coach,” Three Oaks Principal Matt Stafford said. “Nakeeva graduated from Dyer County High School and has been an assistant coach here for three years. She will continue the great tradition that Three Oaks Middle School has in girls basketball.”
